Hi!
It's once again time for the Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are featuring Cinnamon Cider, one of the 2020-22 In Colours. If you love it, you've got less than a year left to enjoy it! It's quite a creamy brown that's a lot lighter than other browns in the SU colour range.
I thought that I'd try it with the sort of sepia effect that I usually use Soft Suede for. I stamped my image, from Beautiful Moment, in Cinnamon Cider ink onto Shimmery White cardstock. I then used a Water Brush with minimal water in the barrel to 'colour' the image. I don't pick up ink from the inkpad with the brush, I just pull the ink in from the stamped image. It's a very subtle effect! The Shimmery cardstock has a bit of a grey cast, but against the Cider it nearly looks blue - which very much suited my design!
I cut the layers under the art panel while I was watching The Block on TV. Silly mistake, as they ended up being too narrow for the card base. Oops! To compensate, I cropped a scallop border using one of the dies from the Penned Flowers set. I like how it adds the stitched line, too. To make the card a little more cohesive, I cropped the art panel using the Stitched So Sweetly dies. The scallops and stitching match very well!
I just stamped the flowers on the inside. I only inked the grass portion of the stamp to fill in the empty space below the line of flowers. I thought it would get too muddy to stamp the whole flower image in the lower sections.
Thanks for joining me, but please do continue your way around the Blog Hop. Next up is the fabulous Michele Taylor. I always love the cards she makes!
Catherine Proctor is our Host for Colour Creations, so if you find a broken link along the way, just pop over to her blog. She'll have a list of all the participants and you'll be able to pick up the trail there!
Bye for now,
Tina
Tina, I always think of you when I use this stamp set! Your layering on the front of the card might have been designed to cover a mistake but it looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving all the scallops, Tina ... and the stitched scalloped border was the perfect choice! Very pretty card. The inside decoration is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI really like the use of the birch background stamp here. It is the perfect subtle background for your card.
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous Tina. I love the sepia effect. I must play with the Beautiful Moment stamps more. Your use of this set is inspirational. I think your cutting of layers while watching the Block led to a happy mistake. I really love all your layers and the stitched scalloped border. A beautiful card. Xxx
ReplyDeleteSuch a happy little accident, because the layering and scallops are divine. I love the colouring technique you've used here too.
ReplyDeleteTina your art work is pretty and the added scalloped strip adds interest and so maybe consider it a design change!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty card, Tina, I love that sepia look. The Birch stamping coordinates perfectly with your scene and th scallop borders are sweet. With all the drama on The Block, I'm not surprised with your lack of concentration, hehe.
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous Tina, I love how you have layered the front of your card and the Birch stamp background is lovely with the scallops. The way you have water coloured with just picking up the colour from the image is really beautiful effect and the sepia look works so well with cinnamon cider. Such a gorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteI don't see a mistake on the card front, I see a lovely design :)
ReplyDeleteA great choice of stamp set for your sepia toned card, Tina. I love the look of the stamped flowers on the inside.
