JAI #182: Just Add Frames

Hi!

I hope everyone has had a fantastic week.  It's Friday, the weekend is within reach, and it's time for another Just Add Ink Challenge.

This week Paula has challenged us to add a frame to our creation. You can interpret this any way you'd like.  You could add a frame to a card, or decorate a photo frame, what ever you can think of!

My first thought was to create a polaroid style frame as a focal point on my card. It works really well with the photo paper in the I Am Me DSP pack.

I used my new Squares Collection Framelits to cut the inner section of the frame - so much more precise and easier than trying to do it with my trimmer.

I used a little leftover strip of the DSP on the inside.

Stamps: Happy Day, Sassy Salutations
Ink: Pool Party
DSP/Cardstock: I Am Me DSP, Real Red, Pool Party, Whisper White
Other: Big Shot, Squares Collection Framelits, Real Red Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, Full Heart Punch, Small Heart Punch, Rhinestones, Dimensionals

I hope you can play along with us this week at Just Add Ink.

Bye for now,

Tina

Layered Daydream Medallions

Hi!

Today's card is one I made as a sample for a couple of parties I did in July.

I got my inspiration for this card from the Annual Catalogue.  You can see the card I CASEd on page 114.  I loved the style of the card and the colour scheme so I adapted it to make it a little easier to put together.

The card in the catalogue layered all the stamping, but I decided to stamp and die cut each layer individually. I also changed the card to a standard A6 size.

The inside of mine is very plain, but the ladies at my parties stamped some more of the Medallions inside their cards.

Stamps: Daydream Medallions, Sassy Salutations, Make A Wish
Ink: Pool Party, Crisp Cantaloupe, Baked Brown Sugar
Cardstock: Pool Party, Very Vanilla
Other: Big Shot, Floral Frames Framelits, Vintage Faceted Button, Linen Thread, Dimensionals, Glue Dots

Bye for now,

Tina

An Extra Long Weekend

Hi!

I missed my usual blog post yesterday, and here's why.

We were at the beach.  It's Adelaide Show time and a lot of the schools give the students a day off to go to the show.  Both schools that my children attend gave them two days off, so we decided it was the perfect opportunity to take an extra long weekend to relax and play together. We took the kids to the beach on Sunday and they decided they had to go for a swim, well a paddle really as it was a bit cold to go in much further than knee height. It seems that my crazy children think that a trip to the beach isn't complete without a dip, no matter what the season or weather!!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend too, and I'll be back to normal blogging tomorrow.  For now I have to go and wash all the sand out of our clothes!

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI Scrap #21: Just Add Washi

Hi!

Here we are again, it's time for another Just Add Ink scrapping challenge.

This month Kim has challenged us to use Washi Tape on our layout.  It's great timing, with 2 sets of washi tape available in the Annual Catalogue and another two sets in the Holiday Catalogue. You don't need to use Stampin' Up! washi though, any washi is fine.

I just had to have the Witches Brew Designer Washi Tape from the Holiday Catalogue when I saw it.  I'm not really into Halloween, but I loved the designs on the washi. The photos of my family Trick Or Treating last year worked well with the washi.

I used Gorgeous Grunge to create my background, including stamping the lines behind the title.  I used the coordinating ABC-123 alpha stamps to create the title, which is popped up on Dimensionals.

The zig-zag washi border took me a while to create, but it's worth the effort.  I first scored a very light zig-zag line using my scoring tool and then adhered the first row of washi along the score line.  I then added the second and third line of washi to complete the border.

Here you can see that I used more of the washi to create 'hinges' for my hidden photos and journalling. I applied the washi to both sides of the photo to make the hinges a little stronger.

Well, there you go - a couple of easy ways for you to incorporate washi tape into your layouts.

Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge, ABC-123 Outline Alphabet and Numbers, ABC-123 Sketch Alphabet and Numbers
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black
Cardstock: Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Whisper White
Other: Sponge Daubers, Dimensionals, Sanding Block, Simply Scored Scoring Tool, Simply Scored Borders Plate

I hope you can play along this month with us at Just Add Ink.

JAI #181: Just Add Colour

Hi!

Woot Woot! It's Friday again. It's Showtime in Adelaide so the kids have school closure days, which means an extra long weekend here for me and the kids.  Poor Rob still has to work though.  I'm hoping that the long weekend translates to lots of stamping time for me!  In the meantime, let's find out about the latest JAI challenge.

This week Nikki has given us an absolutely gorgeous colour combination to wok with.  I have to say, it's one of my favourite combinations I've worked with on the JAI team.
Isn't it yummy?  Here's my card.

I stamped the medallions in Silver ink and then gave them a bit of a going over with the heat gun to set the colour.  If you don't do this step it takes forever to dry and you're bound to accidentally smear the ink when you touch it.

Here's a closer look at all the layers on the front of the card. I've also used one of the Candy Dots and Brads to finish off the centre of the medallion.

Silly me forgot that I needed to photograph the card and I wrote on the inside before I took the photos, so you don't get to see the inside this time.

Stamps: Happy Day
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Silver Encore
Cardstock: Basic Black, Brushed Silver, Bermuda Bay, Whisper White
Other: Candy Dot, Candy Dot Brads, Dimensionals, Heat Tool

I hope you can find time to play along at Just Add Ink this week.

Bye for now,

Simply Stars Father's Day Card

Hi!

On Monday I posted a grungy Father's Day card that I'd made.  Today I have a very different Father's Day card that was made as a sample for another workshop I ran on the same weekend.  The request there was also for a Father's Day card.

The colour combination for this card came from the Colour Coach.  Not a combo I would have thought of myself, but I really love it! Bermuda Bay, Tangerine Tango, Smoky Slate and Whisper White.

Once again I used My Digital Studio for the sentiment, but this time I used my Bermuda Bay inkpad and a Blender Pen to colour it to match my card.

It's such a happy, cheerful card.  I used stars because I think that our Dads are stars.

Stamps: Simply Stars, Sassy Salutations
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Tangerine Tango
Cardstock: Bermuda Bay, Tangerine Tango, Smoky Slate, Whisper White
Other: Dimensionals, Blender Pen, My Digital Studio

Epic Day Father's Day Card

Hi!

Today I have a card for you that I made for a party I did recently.  The request from the hostess was male cards, and as Father's Day was only a week away at that time I decided to do a Father's Day card with the group.

The card was CASEd from this card. I really loved the card, and it was easy to change it to be a Father's Day card.

Some of the Epic Day DSP that I punched with the Hexagon Punch wasn't quite grungy enough, so I stamped over the top with the medium splotches stamp from Gorgeous Grunge.

I don't have any Father's Day stamps except the one from Teeny Tiny Sentiments, which is cute but not the right look or size for this card. MDS to the rescue!  I searched the stamps in My Digital Studio and found the one I used.  I just sized it to requirements and printed it onto some Crumb Cake cardstock.  Easy!

Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge, ABC-123 Sketch Alphabet and Numbers
Ink: Crumb Cake, Baked Brown Sugar
DSP/Cardstock: Epic Day DSP, Crumb Cake
Other: Hexagon Punch, Paper Snips, Sponge Daubers, Dimensionals, My Digital Studio

I'll be back later in the week with another Father's Day card.

Bye for now,

Tina
