Stampin' Royalty #5

Hi!

Back again with the fifth Challenge from Stampin' Royalty. I am really loving the variety of challenges they are coming up with. I'm particularly enjoying this weeks challenge: Anything But a Card. I make a lot of cards and it's great to be pushed to try something else.

I decided to make a little flippy mini album for my mum. I got the tutorial free online from Amy Celona. It was easy to make and put together once I got my head around the directions, which didn't take long because Amy's instructions are fantastic.

Stickers: Kaisercraft Pina Colada Alphabet
Ribbon: Certainly Celery twill, Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain and White ribbon from my stash
Flowers: Kaisercraft Lemon Lime, white flowers from my stash
Other: White brads from my stash

I love the Pina Colada papers - they are so bright and cheerful, and they match almost perfectly with the Stampin' Up products I used. I think they add interest without detracting from the photos.

I'm sure mum's going to love the album.

Sweet Sunday #54

Hi!

The latest challenge I thought I'd try is Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #54. Here is the sketch:



And here is my card:



I wasn't really inspired by the scallop section down the side and so I struggled to come up with an idea for a while. When I decided to use flowers instead of the scallops the card just fell into place.

I stamped the large flower from the One Of A Kind SS randomly over the base card and then used my stamp positioner to stamp the Whisper White panel with another One Of A Kind stamp. The flowers down the side are also from the same stamp set. I sponged all of the panels. Sponging is a technique I haven't used much, but after viewing this video by Alisa Tilsner I was much more confident about doing it.

Wow!

I'm not really believing my eyes - in the 24 hours since I started this blog I've had 12 comments and 1 follower! I'm so glad I changed over from Spaces to Blogger as it's so much easier for readers to leave comments. I decided to moderate the comments so that I can read them all and not miss a single one.

It's a nice end to a frustrating and expensive day. Our water system died and was spewing out water for hours before my very kind neighbour discovered it and let us know. Thankfully she knows someone who knows someone else and we were able to get a new, continuous system for tradie's prices. Unfortunately it meant we had no water all afternoon while it was being installed, which meant no air con on a stifling 30 odd degree day. At least it's fixed now and hopefully will last us a very long time!

Card Patterns #49

Hi!

This time I thought I'd try Sketch #49 over at Card Patterns.

Here is the sketch:



And here is my card:



Once again I used the Petal Party Simply Scrappin Kit for most of my card. The colours are Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron and Pixie Pink. I love the bold colours in this kit. The three leaves in the top left are die cut stickers from the pack, as are the Pumpkin Pie polka dot stripes down the right side. The white flower is from Kaisercraft, layered onto a Stampin Up Scallop Circle punchie that I cut into to make it look more like a flower. The sentiment is from So Many Sayings (retired) stamped in Basic Black ink and punched out using the Word Window punch.

Just Add Ink #2

Hi!

I thought I'd give the second Challenge over on Just Add Ink a go. The Challenge this week was "Just Add Hearts".

This is the card I came up with:



My card is a longways folded piece of Whisper White A5 card stock. It's really long!!! In hindsight I should have cut an inch or so off one end. I pleated a length of Pink Pirouette 1 1/4 inch Grosgrain ribbon along the card, then wrapped a length of silver ribbon from my stash over the top. I stamped the heart from Always in Basic Black, trimmed it and raised it on dimensionals. The little heart stamps are from Little Pieces (retired) and are stamped in VersaColor Chateau Gray.
