JAI #309: Just Add Inspiration

Hi!

Oops! Where did that week go? I'll blame it on school holidays. Ada is away on a Young Carers camp and Alex is doing a 4 day Jamie Oliver Ministry Of Food cooking course and I'm just all out of whack! It's been a bit strange with just Hudson and me home during the day.

But let's get into the Just Add Ink fun for this week. Jodene has given us this gorgeous Inspiration picture for our inspiration.

Can't you just imagine snuggling under that throw on a cold winter day? And the colours are just divine!

I started by choosing my colours. I went with Watermelon Wonder, Blushing Bride and Pool Party. I then used them with an Aqua Painter to create the chevron pattern on some watercolour paper. I was watching the final of MKR as I was painting the background, so it's probably a bit uneven as the excitement levels changed!

Once I finished the background I was a little stumped! I didn't want to stamp a sentiment on the watercolour paper as the texture in the paper can make getting a clear image tricky. I ended up using my Hello You Thinlits with some Watermelon Wonder cardstock. I used a few teeny tiny pieces of Dimensionals to pop it up off the background.

I cheated a little on the inside. I wanted to use more of the chevrons, but this time I decided to use the stamp from Work Of Art and my markers. The sentiments are from Endless Thanks.

The Just Add Ink Design Team has interpreted the inspiration picture in so many fabulous ways. You can see their cards over at the Just Add Ink blog. What inspires you?

JAI #308: Just Add M

Hi!

I nearly forgot to submit my Just Add Ink Challenge project this week. Oops! School holidays have a way of making the days run away - I nearly always seem to lose track of where we are up to. I guess that's the point of holidays though!

This week it's my challenge at Just Add Ink, and I am challenging you to Just Add M to your projects. It can be anything to do with M - a colour, theme, stamp set, anything! I have incorporated a few M's into my project, as I'm Memory Keeping using the Moments Like These PL Collection, which includes Metallic accents.

Ada, my daughter, won a Jamberry party in a raffle recently, so we held it on Tuesday night. She got to invite several of her friends, and so did I! The girls has a blast applying their wraps and then painting the rest of their nails with polish. Can you imagine how giggly it got with 4 very excited 10 year old girls? It was such a fun night!

Sigh, my title card didn't quite work the way I'd hoped. The circle in the middle has a little heart, but chopping it down the middle has made it look a bit funny. Oh well! The Metallic Gold stickers I used for the title were from the Moments Like These Accessory Kit.

What M's will you use in your project? There's so much you could use! Melon Mambo, Mother's Day, Made With Love stamp set, markers, masking..... the possibilities are endless! See you over at Just Add Ink.

World Traveler on a Beautiful Ride

Hi!

It's been a big few days for Stampin' Up demonstrators and customers - the 2016 Retiring List is out! Have you checked it out yet? There are always a few big shocks about what appears on the list, but it's tempered a little by knowing that there is some awesome new stuff just around the corner when the new Annual Catalogue comes out.

Today's card is made with nearly all Retiring products. It was made a few weeks ago, when I had no idea what was going or staying, so just a big coincidence.

So. What's retiring off this card? A Beautiful Ride stamp set (sob!), The Open Sea stamp set (sob!), World Traveler TIEF (big sob!) and the Candy Dots (half sob here, as they are being replaced with something new!)

All the colours I used are remaining though - Crumb Cake, Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango and Very Vanilla. Yes, that's right, no colour shake up this year, apart from the usual change of In Colours.

There are a few other sob-worthy mentions on the Retiring List. Two of my most used items are going - Decorative Dots TIEF and Sassy Salutations stamp set. But as I said, there's plenty to be excited about in the new Catalogue so I'm sure I won't be sad for too long!

JAI #307: Just Add Colour

Hi!

Waa Hoo!  Not only is it Friday, and therefore Just Add Ink challenge day - it's also the last day of school for Term 1! It's been a long few weeks watching a lot of my interstate friends enjoying their holidays on FB, but now it's our turn!

This week Nikki has set a colour challenge, and it's fabulous!  I'm a real fan of yellow paired with gray, so thisd one was right up my alley!

Here's what I came up with using the colours.

I quite like the way that the sunburst and stars lok like a firework going off in the background. I stamped the sunburst from Kinda Eclectic, but stamped it off first so that the Delightful Dijon wouldn't dominate the card too much. The stars, from Perpetual Birthday Calendar, were stamped in Smokey Slate over the top.

The 'happy' fromt eh Hello You thinlits makes for a bold sentiment over the top of everything else.

What will you do with the colours this week? Can't wait to see what you create. Don't forget to link up at Just Add Ink.

Happy 13th Birthday Alex!

Hi!

This time 13 years ago I was cuddling a tiny little newborn. I can't believe that 13 years have passed since then. Alex has grown into such a handsome young man who has achieved a lot.

A special birthday requires a special card, and this is what I made for him.

One of Alex's passions is space and astronomy, so it was a bit of a no-brainer to use the constellation paper from the Going Places DSP Stack.

I also used the Large Numbers bundle to create the main panel. I know I say it all the time, but it's such a great bundle!

Happy 13th Birthday Alex!

JAI #306: Just Add Sympathy

Hi!

Here we are again  - it's Friday, so time for another Just Add Ink challenge.

This week Jan has challenged us to Just Add Sympathy. I don't know about you, but I find these some of the most difficult to make, especially at the times they are needed. This was a good chance to get one made when I wasn't too sad and not feeling creative.

I went for a subdued colour scheme of Early Espresso, Sahara Sand, Rose Red, Garden Green and Very Vanilla. I quite like that mix of colours.

The Hardwood background was stamped with Early Espresso ink on Sahara Sand cardstock. I love the old, weathered look it creates for the background.

I used my Thoughts And Prayers stamp set for the inside. It's an oldie, but a goodie, for sympathy cards.

As usual, the rest of the Design Team have come up with some fabulous creations for your inspiration. You can see them over at the Just Add Ink blog. I hope you can play along with us this week.

A Schoolhouse Pedal Pusher

Hi!

I have one final Sale-A-Bration card that I couldn't resist showing you, even though SAB has now finished. This one was a CASE of this card, by Jacque Williams.

While Jacque used pretty floral papers and matching colours, I went for a brighter palette by using the Schoolhouse DSP papers and coordinating colours.

While Jacque watercoloured her card, I decided to colour mine with Stampin' Write Markers.

I love the simplicity of this inside!

An Easel Card Just For You

Hi!

Even though Sale-A-Bration has finished now, I still have a couple of cards to show you, so I'm going to blog them this week.  Today's card uses the Wildflower Fields DSP and the Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum.

It's a sweet little card, just 4 inches or so square. The vellum is attached to a square of Old Olive, just to help it pop a little more.

The flowers were stamped in Calypso Coral, a colour I selected from the list of colours used in the Wildflower Fields DSP.

Another little cluster of flowers serves the purpose of both decoration and to hold the card open.

Bye for now,

Tina

Make-A-Card Fundraiser for Trekking For Charlotte

Hi!

Those of you who follow me on Facebook or receive my emails should know all about this gorgeous little girl by now. There's a lot of words I can use to describe Charlotte. She's cheeky, curious, adventurous, friendly, mischievous, happy and determined, to name a few. She loves the Wiggles and has an older sister and brother. She's a bit of a climber, and loves to pull everything out of my handbag when I visit her. In other words, she's a pretty normal toddler. She also happens to have Down Syndrome.

Charlotte's family have been supported by Foundation 21 since Charlotte was born. Now Charlotte's amazing mum, Samantha, has decided to give back to the Foundation by Trekking the Grand Canyon in May to raise money for them.

I am holding a Make-A-Card Fundraising Day to help Samantha and Charlotte meet their fundraising goals, and I'd love for you to come along.

When: Sunday 3rd April at 10am (booked out), 12pm or 2pm (limited spaces left)
Where: My house in Woodcroft, Adelaide
What: Come along and make as many cards as you'd like in your session.
Bring a friend too!
Each card will cost $4, and all proceeds will go to
Trekking For Charlotte
More: We will have games to play on the day, so bring some extra
spare change
To book: Email me at happy.mum@hotmail.com
Please book early so I have time to cut enough kits.
Can't make it? I will be selling leftover kits after the day, so please
get in touch if you'd like to purchase some. Please keep in mind that
I cannot include stamped images in the kits, so you may need
to make your own substitutions.

Thank you for supporting Samantha and Charlotte in their Fundraising efforts. If you'd like to know more, you can follow them on Facebook, or view their blog, or even better, make a donation.

JAI #305: Just Add A Sketch

Hi!

How are you on this lovely Friday? Hopefully you haven't been taken for an April fool! There's no fooling around at Just Add Ink this week - it's a sketch challenge and it's one of my designs.

What do you think? The Design Team have done a great job with the sketch this week.  Here's my take on it.

I thought that the tall panels were perfectly suited for the tall flowers in the Flowering Fields stamp set. I stamped them in Black Stazon and then coloured them using my Stampin' Write Markers.

I used this card as a class sample. Some of my ladies also coloured the background DSP, which is the coordinating Wildflower Fields. I took a photo, I just need to get it off my phone!

Why don't you pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog to see the other fabulous cards that the Design Team have made?

Bye for now,

Tina
