A Little Absence

Hi!

Gee this week is flying by!  I can't believe it's Wednesday already.  Apologies for the lack of posting this week.  My eldest son Alex spent the afternoon/evening in hospital on Monday after a bit of an accident with boiling water.  He's a very lucky boy - although the water hit him from his cheek down his back to his waist he only ended up with small burns on his shoulder.  Thankfully a quick acting teacher got him into a cold shower and managed to prevent the burns from being any worse than they are.  But then he had a reaction to the first lot of dressings that were applied at the hospital, so back we had to go to get them done again.  What's a bit more stress in an already stressful life? lol

But seriously, he was sooo lucky.  There are so many others who aren't so lucky.  A fellow Think Inker's little man suffered some very serious burns recently, my heart goes out to him and his family xox.

I'll get back to regular posting soon.  I've had a few workshops and classes this month so I have plenty of projects to show you.  I'm starting some in home classes soon.  If you live in the South of Adelaide and are interested in attending, please sign up for my newsletter.  July's class will be a Christmas themed Stamp A Stack.

Designer Series Paper Blog Hop

Welcome to our blog hop.  A small group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators are hosting a blog hop to showcase some of the gorgeous Designer Series Paper we sell.  I'm sure you'll be very inspired by the projects you see as you hop around all the blogs.  There are 7 blogs on the hop, with the blog before mine being the very creative Di Dunk.

For my project I decided to scrap a layout inspired not only by the DSP I have in my stash, but also by some song lyrics.  Last week at playgroup we sang "You Are My Sunshine" with the children.  I got a bit teary remembering that it was the very first song I sang to my eldest child Alex just after he was born.  It was one of those moments where nothing else existed, just him and me and the song.  A very special moment.

The layout took me AGES, but I was really please with how it came together.  I started with Basic Grey 12x12 cardstock and built up from there.  The hills were cut from the Woodland Walk and Greenhouse Gala DSP packs.  I hand drew a line just inside each of the elements to give them some definition and also to give a bit of a whimsical look.

I hand drew the clouds on a piece of Basic Grey Patterns Stack DSP and then cut around each one.  I drew some in each direction for a bit of interest.  Each cloud is popped up on some Dimensionals and I used some Basic Jewel Rhinestones to represent the rain.  The sun uses Greenhouse Gala DSP.  I had a lot of thin scraps of the Daffodil Delight pattern, so it was great to use them up as the rays of the sun.

For the house I used Love Letter DSP and my scallop edge punch to make the roof.  I just punched a heap of thin strips and adhered them to a piece of cardstock cut to shape of the roof overlapping each layer.  The flowers in the flower box were punched with the smallest flower in the Boho Blossoms punch.  I drew around them too and added a black centre.  The middle flower is popped up on a Dimensional.

The apple tree is just a whole heap of punched circles of different sizes using the Woodland Walk, Greenhouse Gala and Love Letter DSP packs.  The tree trunk was hand drawn and cut from the Woodland Walk DSP.

Another Card for my Nephew

Hi!

I'm back again, as promised, with the second card I made for my nephew's first birthday.  This is the card I made for us to give to him.

I went for the monochromatic look again with this card, using Peach Parfait.  The star shape uses the negative - I discarded the star punchie and used the remaining DSP instead, backing it with Whisper White cardstock.

A Birthday Card for a One Year Old

Today's card was one I made for my mother and father in law to give to my nephew for his first birthday.  He's such a cheeky little thing so what else could I use but the monkey from Fox and Friends?

Another Sneak Peek!

Hi!

Today's card is one I made a little while ago.  I used both of the stamp sets Stampin' Up! Demonstrators got as a part of their Convention kit.  They will appear in the next Idea Book and Catalogue.  The idea for the card came from the display boards at Convention - one of the perks of being a Demonstrator is the wonderful gifts and inspiration you get from Convention (as well as meeting a LOT of wonderful people!).  Anyway, here's the card:

Layout 36: March

Hi!

Another layout for you today.  This is the third of my monthly summary layouts, where I scrap photos of things we have done during the month.  I have used the papers and colours from the gorgeous Woodland Walk DSP for my layout.

Finally, in case you were wondering how I got the shape of the journalling box.

I just traced and hand cut the bit of the tissue box you would normally rip out and throw away.  I then matted it on more cardstock and hand cut around the shape again.  Easy peasy, and something a little different for my layout.

A Sneak Peek!

Hi!

Today's card was made for the latest challenge at Just Add Ink, which was to Just Add Black and White.  I have been working a lot with black lately, so I decided to use mostly white for my card.

The sentiment is from Vintage Vogue, but the rest of the images are from a stamp set that will appear in the upcoming Idea Book and Catalogue.  The flourish image is a line image which I have then coloured sections of with my Basic Black marker.

The butterflies were popped up on dimensionals and have a pearl in the centre of their bodies.  I used more pearls on either side of the sentiment.
