OnStage Sydney Beautiful Moments Presentation: Casual Samples

I'm back with part two of my posts about my recent presentation in Sydney. This time I have the Casual Stamper samples that I made to show off the gorgeous Beautiful Moments stamp set, co-designed by Jacque Williams.

A Casual Stamper is one who has been stamping a little while, but may not have a lot of supplies and probably doesn't stamp more than couple of times a month, and usually for a purpose rather than just for fun/relaxation. They want to try a bit trickier techniques, but nothing too tricky!

My technique of choice for this group was colouring and blending using Watercolour Pencils and a Wink Of Stella pen. It's colouring technique I use a lot, especially in classes. It's not as difficult as regular watercolouring, and you have the bonus of pretty, sparkly cards!

Hopefully you can see the shimmer in this photo! To colour this way, you stamp your image using Memento ink. Take your pencil and colour roughly along the lines in the image, and then take your Wink Of Stella brush and use it like an Aqua Painter, pulling the colour into the open areas of your image. I use circular motions with the WOS brush.

I kept forgetting to use the sweet little butterflies in the set - I wish I'd added a few above the flowers on this card, both inside and front. Oh well - next time!

This card uses the same technique, I just used a Thick Whisper White card base and added some Highland Heather Gingham DSP under the main image.

You can see in her dress in this photo how the technique allows for a bit of shading in the image - the pencils lay darker colour and the WOS lightens it as it pulls away.

This next card is one of my favourites that I made for the presentation.

I stamped the image in Soft Suede on one of the large Magnolia Lane Notecards.

I then took my Chalk Marker and selectively coloured the image, using a quick flicking motion. On the dress, I flicked up from the waistline for the bodice, and then down for the skirt. It's such a dreamy looking card!

As always, I finished the inside with the same technique.

OnStage Sydney Beautiful Moments Presentation: Beginner Samples

I thought it was about time to start posting my samples from the recent OnStage event in Sydney. In case you didn't know, I was invited by Stampin' Up! to present Jacque Williams' Million CSV sales stamp set. Which, in non-SU lingo, means that Jacque sold a lot of SU stuff, won a trip to Head Office in Utah and was able to co-design a stamp set, which will go on sale in January.

Today I have for you the Beginner Stamper projects that I designed for Sydney.  I will do follow up posts soon with my Casual and Avid Samples. There's just too much for one post!

Beginner Stampers are those that are very new to stamping, and so I wanted to create samples that would be very easy for them to recreate. I used some Very Vanilla Notecards and stamped an image and sentiment on both. The card on the left used Mossy Meadow, and the card on the right was Soft Suede.

I then took an Aqua Painter with a tiny bit of water in it, and lightly ran it over the areas of the image that I wanted to colour. In this case, the grass/flowers, dress and hair. The little bit of water lets the colour run slightly - just enough to give a lovely wash over the image. Too much water gets murky, which is why I only add a tiny bit to the Aqua Painter.

The inside of the card got the same treatment.

I then tried the same technique on the Scalloped Notecards. I stamped with Night Of Navy onto the Balmy Blue card and used the Aqua Painter to colour the image.

These cards must have a different coating than the plain notecards, as the water beaded a little on the surface, giving a marbled look to the finished image.

The inside reacted as the plain notecards did.

I used the same technique to make some gift tags. I simply cut a Very Vanilla Notecard in half and stamped the smaller flower image a few times in Merry Merlot. I also added some butterflies from the stamp set.

I added a hole and some twine to allow the gift tag to be added to a gift. I think it would go nicely around the neck of a bottle of wine!

Here's another tag, stamped on half of a Whisper White Notecard in Pretty Peacock, but attached to the Pillow Box using Whisper White Baker's Twine.

CTC #257: Kids And Babies

Welcome to the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop! This is our third last challenge of 2019, and we'd love to see you enter. You don't need a blog or anything fancy, you just need to upload a photo of your card into our Facebook Group. Easy!

This week we are back to CASEing from the Annual Catalogue, specifically the Kids and Babies section from page 98-105. I had a bit of a flick though and settled on this gift bag from page 104. I have been doing a lot of watercolouring lately, and the no-line colouring technique was what I decided to CASE.

I recently received the new stamp set, Little Ladybug. It is a reward during Sale-A-Bration in 2020 for achieving a set level of sales, either individually or for hosting a party. It's so cute, and perfect for colouring.

I started by stamping the center flower in stamped off Sahara Sand, and then masked it to stamp the other two flowers. The ladybird was also stamped in Sahara Sand, stamped off first. I used my Stamparatus for all stamping, as I was stamping on watercolour paper, which can sometimes take a few goes to get an even image.

I used my Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Early Espresso and Garden Green Watercolour Pencils to outline the images and my Aqua Painter to pull in the colour from the outlines. The ladybird was coloured with my Early Espresso, Basic Black and Real Red pencils, but I did end up using my Real Red ink pad for the wings, as I just wasn't getting the depth of colour I wanted with the pencils. I also used my Balmy Blue ink pad to colour the sky.

Rather than watercolour paper for the inside, which is hard to write on, I used Shimmery White cardstock. It colours beautifully and is smooth for writing, so it's winning all round! This flower is Real Red, with an Early Espresso centre and a Garden Green stem/leaves.

JAI #484: Just Add Colour

Hi!

It's the end of another busy week, but that means it's time for both the weekend and the new Just Add Ink challenge. Yay! This week Rachael has given us a sweet, soft colour combo to work with.

I don't know about you, but those colours scream 'baby card' to me. Ok, well maybe whisper so that we don't wake the baby! LOL!

I took the opportunity to use a new stamp set, called Witty-cisms. I was lucky enough to receive this stamp set in the bundle of goodies I got to present at OnStage recently. It's a cute little set with lots of funny images and sentiments. The text and image are actually one stamp, so I used a lot of masking to stamp the pram three times in Smokey Slate, and then just the text for the fourth square.

I stamped the images on Shimmery White cardstock so that I could watercolour the prams. The Shimmery paper copes with water much better than regular Whisper White card. The little hearts were cropped using the little heart die from the Well Written dies.

The congratulations sentiment is also from a new stamp set, called Peaceful Moments. The hearts I used on the inside are also a stamp, from the new Music From The Heart stamp set, which was also in my goodie bundle from OnStage. I just over a month they will be available for purchase.

AWH Blog Hop: Boxes and Gift Bags

The Art With Heart Team are back with another inspirational Blog Hop. This month we are featuring Gift Bags and Boxes, just in time for the Christmas gift giving season. The bags and boxes featured are all made using current Stampin’ Up! products and any of our wonderful team members are happy to help you with the supplies you will need to reproduce these beautiful projects.

It took me a while to work out what I was going to do for this Hop - for the longest time I had 'Boxes and Gift Tags' in my head, not Gift Bags. Oops! Back to the drawing board!

I ended up making this cute little gift box from one of the Old Olive Scalloped Notecards. Have you noticed them in the Annual Catalogue? I hadn't, until recently. For the very low price of $14.00, you receive 20 cards and 20 envelopes, 5 each of Balmy Blue, Old Olive, Light Pink and Terracotta Tile. I like making something unexpected from our products, and this fit the bill nicely!

I love how the scalloped edge of the Note Card gives a cute little finish to the opening of the box. It really feels like cheating to use these to make a box!

I used some Night Before Christmas DSP on the top of the box. I couldn't resist adding some Wink Of Stella to the Pine Tree shape, although it's hard to photograph. I love that this paper makes the tree look decorated without any extra effort on my behalf!

Here's some instructions on how I made the box:

I cropped 1 1/2cm from the straight edge of the card. I then scored at 1cm all the way around the edges, as well as another score line 1cm from the pre-scored line in the card, on the side of the scalloped edge. Did that make sense? The extra line is basically under the l and e of Gillespie in my watermark. I then snipped the corners as shown, and folded and glued the straight edged side of the card to form a box. To close it, the side flaps fold into the box, and the scalloped edge stays outside of the box. You might be able to see that I trimmed a tiny bit off the side flaps to make them easier to fold into the box.

You can see that the box is very thin, but it would be perfect for a gift card or voucher, or maybe even cash. The box could be made to be deeper, but you would lose width and length.

AWH HOC Week 15

Hello, and welcome to the second last Heart Of Christmas Blog Share for 2019. I've really enjoyed doing these blog shares again, as it's a great way to increase my stash of Christmas cards. And I get lots of inspiration from my Art With Heart team members. Winning!

This week's card was an attempt to use more of my Christmas DSP before Christmas. I selected paper from the Night Before Christmas pack. I love the 6 inch packs, as you get a bigger variety of papers than the 12 inch packs, but you end up with a lot more smaller pieces. I made sure I used as much of the sheet as I could on this card, starting with a full card front sized piece of the baubles paper. I think this is one of my favourite patterns from the pack.

I chose Poppy Parade card to complement the DSP, and used my Ornate Frames dies to cut a frame for my sentiment, which is from the Hostess set, Greatest Part Of Christmas. I really love that font! And yay for the dies carrying over to the new Mini Catalogue!

The inside is where I used the rest of the sheet of DSP. I just cut it in half lengthways and adhered it to the base, before cutting a piece of Whisper White card to fit in between, overlapping slightly. And there's that cute font again! I quite like how this inside looks, so I think I'll be doing it again with my 6 inch papers.

CTC #256: Annual Catalogue With A Holiday Twist

Welcome to this week's CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. They are such a nice way to end the weekend, don't you think? The blog before mine was the lovely Shannon's - are you coming from there or starting here? Either way, just keep going until you get back to where you started.

This week our challenge is to choose a card from the Annual Catalogue to CASE, but to give it a Holiday Catalogue Twist.  After opening the Annual Catalogue at a few random pages, I decided to stop on this card from page 158.

The banner, and the layers underneath, was what caught my eye. I think it's because it reminds me a little of some of the new stuff about to come out. However, the challenge is to use Holiday Catalogue products, so I pulled out my trusty So Many Stars bundle.

I started by creating the banner. It's just the retired Labeller Alphabet stamped and then cropped using the Classic Label punch. I then folded it over a length of Whisper White Baker's Twine, adhered the two sides with a glue dot, and snipped the back to match the front.

The large starry swirl piece was made slightly larger by snipping it in half under the Copper star and pushing the ends out. I like that you can see much more of it this way.

I had a few stars left from the swirly die cut on the front, so they were put to good use framing the sentiment from the Greatest Part Of Christmas stamp set. I love that font, as it nearly looks hand written.
