JAI 758: Just Add A Sketch

 Hi!

Thanks ever so much for joining me for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week Kim has designed a fun sketch to inspire our creativity.

I love using circles on cards, and that wee little bow? So sweet! I wanted to make a sewing themed card for a friend, so I went hunting through my extensive paper stash for some suitable paper. This gingham print from the Country Gingham DSP pack was the perfect choice.

The paper colour is Sweet Sorbet, thankfully I had some coordinating cardstock in my stash too. A layer of Whisper White under the DSP gave it a lovely pop.

The stamp set that I used is from Kindred Stamps, called National Sewing Machine Day. It's a great choice for a sewing themed thank you card! I used my Stylish Shapes Dies to crop the banners and the stitched circle. The solid circle is from the long retired Circles Collection Framelits.

The inside uses another sentiment from the Sewing Machine stamp set, a strip of left over DSP and some sweet die cuts from the Quilt Builder Framelits dies. I love it when different products from different companies work so well together!

That's all from me for this week, but we'd love to see what you make. You can see the rest of the Design Team cards over on the Just Add Ink blog, where you can also add your card to our Linky.

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI #515: Just Add Mixed Media

Hi!

It's once again time for the new Just Add Ink Challenge. This week Jan has challenged us to add Mixed Media to our cards.

'What is Mixed Media?', I hear you say. It's pretty much the addition of mediums, other than inks, to your card. Things that add texture and dimension, like paint, embossing paste, fabric, are all examples. I had lots of great ideas for this week's challenge, but unfortunately life got in the way and I had to concede that I would not get my card finished in time.

I had started it, though! My plan was to make a sewing themed card, and so I used an old pattern over some Very Vanilla cardstock for the base of my card. I used Shimmery Embossing paste over the top. Some left over fabric from making masks this week would have found it's way onto the card, and this cute image from Kindred Stamps would have tied it all together. I'd changed my mind on the image though, I was going to stamp it onto Crumb Cake and colour it to give a sepia-like effect. I'm hoping I can get the card made over the weekend, so you may get to see it yet!

In the meantime, please do head on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you can see the gorgeous cards that the DesignTeam have created for our challenging Mixed Media challenge!

JAI #471: Just Add Inspiration

Hi!

Hooray for Friday and the new Just Add Ink challenge! This week Rachael has found this great Inspiration Photo to kick start our creativity. Isn't it a great one for winter? Brr! It's been cold in Adelaide lately. Coming after a few sunnier winter days, it seems even colder!

Don't you just want to pick up those skeins and start knitting/crocheting? What would you make?  I'd make a crocheted basket to go in my lounge room, I think!

Anyway, on to the challenge! I recently received this Kindred Stamps set, called National Sewing Machine Day. Even though it's not knitting, it's sewing, so I'm calling it close enough to fit the theme of the Inspiration Photo!

I used my Copics in colours as close to the Inspiration Photo as I could to colour the image. The only colour I couldn't get in the image was the darker blue/green, so I used Night Of Navy as my base card and matt. I also pulled out my Arts and Crafts Dies to decorate the card. Rob was totally fooled by the paperclip when I showed him the card - he thought it was real!

The stamps is just the girl, sewing machine, table and chair. The rest of the details were hand drawn and then coloured - the rug, skirting boards and window/curtain. It adds a nice depth to the scene, don't you think?

I really love this button border die, and it works so well with the card theme. Unfortunately it doesn't go the whole width of the card, so I had to improvise! I cut two larger buttons using other dies from the set and added them in over the gap in the border. Too easy!

Time now to pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog to see the rest of the Design Team cards this week. It's been fun seeing how everyone has used the Inspiration Photo to make their cards. What do you see in it?

Bye for now,

Tina
