JAI 672: Just Add A Sketch

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Just Add Ink Challenge. This week, Nikki has a fun sketch for us to be inspired by.

It's a good one, with lots of open space and room for interpretation. I recently received the Perfect Catch box from Kindred Stamps, and I knew straight away that I wanted to use the Video Game Die for my card.

My hubby has been nagging me that I haven't made him a birthday card yet - it was back at the start of August. Whoops! I could use the excuse that I was waiting for this die to arrive, right?

I used my Fine Tip Glue to add a glossy layer to the buttons and the screen frame on the card. It adds lovely texture and dimension to the card. It's something that he will appreciate.

The background papers that I used were from the Bright & Beautiful DSP pack. I thought that the stars were a great choice. The stamped sentiments were also from the Perfect Catch box. I love the funky font, and Rob will like the sentiments that I chose for him!

That's all from me, but please head on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll find the rest of this week's Design Team cards. You'll also find our Linky, so that you can add your card to our challenge. I can't wait to see what you do with it.

Colour Creations: Daffodil Delight

 Hi!

Welcome to my blog for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week it's Daffodil Delight's turn to shine - and shine it does! It's a lovely, bright, sunny yellow. It's a feature colour in the Light The Candles Kit, so that's what I decided to use for my card.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Light The Candles Kit

You might think, if you're familiar with the kit, that the striped paper isn't a part of the kit. It is! It's the envelope paper. The inside of the envelopes had gorgeous coordinating paper that sometimes likes to come out and play on the card, rather than be hidden away in the envelope. Today, I set it free, LOL!

The rest of the card was made up as per the kit. The sparkly paper behind the cake cut out is spectacular! What a shame that it was an overcast day today - the camera didn't really capture the gorgeous sparkle.

The inside of my card features another strip of paper from the envelope. You know me - I don't waste anything!

Please keep on hopping around all of the blogs tonight. There's a lot more Daffodil Delight inspiration to be seen, starting with my lovely friend, Dianne Furniss.

If you run into any problems with the links, please head on over to Cathy Proctor's blog. She does a fabulous job each week keeping us all organised.

Heart Of Christmas Week 7

 Hi!

Welcome to the seventh week of the Heart Of Christmas Blog Hops. I finally have some new stuff, so I was excited to play along this week.

scissorspapercard, Heart Of Christmas, Stampin' Up! Beary Christmas DSP, Joy To You, Brightest Glow, More Dazzle Paper, Sheetload Of Cards, Christmas Card

How gorgeous is the Beary Christmas DSP? It really doesn't need much else, so I used the May 2023 Sheetload Of Cards to show off as much of the paper as possible. I paired it with the new Joy To You stamp set for the sentiment.

scissorspapercard, Heart Of Christmas, Stampin' Up! Beary Christmas DSP, Joy To You, Brightest Glow, More Dazzle Paper, Sheetload Of Cards, Christmas Card

As I used the More Dazzling paper on the front, I also used a small strip on the inside. I changed my stamp set to Brightest Glow, as I didn't want to put a big sentiment on the inside of the card.

scissorspapercard, Heart Of Christmas, Stampin' Up! Beary Christmas DSP, Joy To You, Brightest Glow, More Dazzle Paper, Sheetload Of Cards, Christmas Card

I've decided to make only two cards each time using the Sheetload templates. I was in the enviable position of having too many cards last year, so I don't need to make as many this year. You can see hat I varied the position of the sentiment panel, mostly to try not to cover too many of the polar bears.

That's all from me for tonight, but please do keep going around the blog hop until you get back to where you started. The next stop along the way is my lovely friend, Kate Morgan.

If you run into any issues with links, just pop on over to the wonderful Sharon Davern's blog. She will have a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

JAI 670: Just Add Wildlife

 Hi!

Welcome to the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week we have a theme challenge for you, suggested to us by Fiona. She's like us to Just Add Wildlife to our cards this week.

I was a bit stumped for a while, but then my new pack of Beary Christmas DSP arrived, and I was back on track! I instantly loved the sheet of paper that has the full page scene of the polar bears on icebergs - the challenge was how to make it work on a card without chopping the bears in half or wasting too much. I think I succeeded!

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up! Joy To You, Beary Christmas DSP, Tim Holtz Moon Masks, Christmas Card

I loved this polar bear straight away, sitting on the ice and gazing at the sky. He was a great choice for the front of the card.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Stampin' Up! Joy To You, Beary Christmas DSP, Tim Holtz Moon Masks, Christmas Card

To give him something a little more exciting than just the sky to gaze at, I used my Tim Holtz Moon Masks to create a moon for him. The sentiment is a partial image from another new purchase, the Joy To You stamp set from the new Mini Catalogue. I think it works brilliantly with the scene that I created.

Below the polar bear on the front was this little grouping. It's so sweet! I fussy cut around the family and then lightly inked the cardstock underneath, before gluing it over the top. I don't like wasting anything, so this was a great choice for the inside of my card.

What do you think of when you see 'wildlife'? You can see what the Design Team have made over on the Just Add Ink blog, where you can also link up your card for the challenge. I'm keen o see what you make!

JAI 669: Just Add Colour

 Hi!

Welcome to another Just Add Ink challenge. This week it's a Colour Challenge, suggested to us by Annie.

While I'm not usually a fan of Mossy Meadow, I really love it in this combination with Misty Moonlight and Crumb Cake. A very earthy combo that called to me to play along. I hope it calls to you, too!

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Uniquely Creative Sweet Sentiment Stamps & Dies, Stampin' Up! Sunshine & Rainbows DSP, Nested Essentials Dies

I started with the background DSP, which is from the retired Sale-A-Bration Sunshine & Rainbows pack. It's a lovely print with a textured look, a step or two up from just plain cardstock.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Uniquely Creative Sweet Sentiment Stamps & Dies, Stampin' Up! Sunshine & Rainbows DSP, Nested Essentials Dies

I recently purchased the Nested Essentials Dies, so I put them to work on this card. I used the smallest banner to crop two pieces of Whisper White card to act as the strip under the elongated hexies. With the banner pieces turned in to be under the rest, you still get the benefit of the fancy edge on your card. The white layer between the two elongated hexies was just hand cut to act as a matt.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Uniquely Creative Sweet Sentiment Stamps & Dies, Stampin' Up! Sunshine & Rainbows DSP, Nested Essentials Dies

My sentiments on both the front and inside of the card were stamped and die cut using the Uniquely Creative Sweet Sentiment stamps and dies. They are such a fabulous bundle for mixing and matching.

We'd love for you to play along with our colour combo this week. Pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll find the rest of this week's Design Team cards. Then add your card to our challenge using the Linky at the end of the post. I can't wait to see what you make.

Colour Creations: Crumb Cake

 Hi!

Welcome to Cajun Craze week of the Colour Creations Blog Hop. Hahahaha, are you confused? It's actually Crumb Cake week, but my card started looking like it should have been made for Cajun Craze week instead. I had to do some fancy work to get it looking more Crumb Cake and less Cajun Craze!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Legendary Ride Bundle, Timeless Greetings Kit, Masculine Card

I started out using some bits and pieces from my Timeless Greetings Kit. I'd made a card using bits in the past, which left me with the angular black piece on the left of my card. I also had the speckled Crumb Cake piece. I didn't want to layer it over more Crumb Cake, so I used a Cajun Craze card base. As I started layering, I realised I'd gone too far over to Cajun Craze territory. Luckily, the Crumb Cake strips brought it right back into more acceptable levels of Crumb Cake.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Legendary Ride Bundle, Timeless Greetings Kit, Masculine Card

These motorbike dies are so much fun! I used Basic Black, Basic Grey, Cajun Craze and Silver Foil for the layers. I hoped that the speckled paper made it look like it was driving out in the desert, maybe?

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up! Legendary Ride Bundle, Timeless Greetings Kit, Masculine Card

I had a narrow strip of the speckled paper left for the inside. Because it was too short to go the whole way across the card panel, I cut the end at an angle. Hopefully it doesn't look like the bike is about to go off the edge of a cliff!

You're now heading off to see what my wonderful friend, Rachel Palmieri has created. I can't wait!

If you get stuck with links, please pop on over to the fabulous Cathy Proctor's blog. She'll have a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

Heart Of Christmas Week 5

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me again for another Heart Of Christmas blog hop. Did you miss me last week? The concert band I play in competed in the State Band Championships last Sunday, and I was so absorbed in preparing for that, that I forgot to join in with the hop. Oops! This week I'm back and raring to go!

scissorspapercard, Heart Of Christmas, Stampin' Up! Love, Santa Tag Kit, Merry Melody 3DEF, Christmas Card

Today's card features the fourth (and final) tag in the Love, Santa Kit. I've been avoiding this one, as I wasn't sure what to do with it. I ended up making it as directed by the kit, and then popping it up over some Merry Melody 3DEF embossed Poppy Parade cardstock.

scissorspapercard, Heart Of Christmas, Stampin' Up! Love, Santa Tag Kit, Merry Melody 3DEF, Christmas Card

It looked a bit too plain when I laid the tag straight on the card, so I tilted it for a bit of added interest. I very carefully peeled off the sentiment panel, and was able to stick it down again to make it straight on the card.

The green in the kit is Just Jade, which has retired, but Lost Lagoon was a reasonable substitute. This is especially the case on the inside of the card, where it can't be directly compared to the front.

Keep hopping your way around the blogs, as there's lots more Christmassy inspiration to be seen. The next stop along the way is my lovely friend, Kate Morgan.

As always, the wonderful Sharon Davern is hosting our blog hop. If you run into any issues, just jump on over to her blog, where you'll find a list of all of tonight's hoppers to help get you back on track.
