Faux Tiling with Razzle Dazzle

Today's card showcases a technique that was new to me - faux tiling.  There are a couple of ways to achieve similar looks and I think they all look great.

I stamped the main Razzle Dazzle image on Very Vanilla cardstock using Marina Mist ink.  I was after the blue and cream look that I associate with country-style kitchenware.  The corners of the cardstock looked a little bare so I stamped a bit of the image in each corner.  I then cut the cardstock into 9 equal squares, sponged the edges with River Rock ink, covered them in Crystal Effects and let them dry.   I then mounted each square on River Rock cardstock leaving a small gap between each tile to give the effect of grout.

The River Rock panel is raised on dimensionals.  I randomly stamped the main image over the base card and sponged the edges to give an added subtle tone on tone effect.

I also stamped the inside of the card.  Adds a nice finishing touch to the card.

Other: Marina Mist 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Word Window Large Punch, Crystal Effects, Dimensionals, Crop-A-Dile, blue eyelet.

Swinging Stampin' Royalty

I'm back again with another card from the latest UStamp round.  The swing card was designed by Kathryn Mangelsdorf for Ustamp and I used the colour combination from the latest Stampin' Royalty challenge.  Here's the colour combo:

Isn't it a cute little card?  I quite like the swing card, and can see myself making lots more!

Razzle Dazzle in Chalk

Here's a card I made to try out a new technique using my Stampin' Pastels. It was a challenge on the Art With Heart team forum.



Hmmm, not sure that I like the card, but I do like the technique. I'll have to play some more and see if I can come up with a better card!

Sweet Always Birthday Invitations

Hi!

It's the last week of school here in South Australia, and my daughter's birthday falls in the holidays so last night I had to get cracking and get her birthday party invitations done so she could give them to her friends. It's her last week of kindy as next term she's off to 'big girl school' so it's a very exciting time.

I asked Ada to help me design the invitations and the first thing she said was that they had to be pink. Is there any other colour when you're a 4 year old girl and you love princesses? She also chose the stamp set Razzle Dazzle from the Summer Mini Catalogue. Sadly retired now, but I still hold out some hope it may make a comeback in the upcoming IB&C.

Anyway, here's the invitation that Ada approved:



Not much pink at all! lol

They didn't take much time at all once I got a bit of a production line happening. I think about 3 hours all up to make 12, including writing on the inside and a vigorous debate with Ada over Regal Rose versus Rose Red ink!

Inkspirations Sketch Challenge #18

Hi!

I had lots of quiet time to get some crafting done today, as my older children were at school or preschool and my youngest was in occasional care for the morning then sleeping this afternoon. It was too hot to do too much, but I did manage to get a card done for Makeesha Byl's Inkspirations Challenge. This week it is a sketch:

I'm still playing with last year's SAB stamps, as I just won them as blog candy. I'm loving this little flower from Botanical Blooms. I stamped the flower in Lovely Lilac, then I inked up the second step stamp with Lovely Lilac but stamped it off once before stamping it in place. I also sponged each of the panels.
