JAI 752: Just Add Inspiration

 Hi!

Welcome to the new Just Add Ink Challenge. This week we have an Inspiration Photo to spark your creativity, suggested to us by Jo.

It's a cute vintage car, and the flowers in the back scream 'wedding' to me. Do you agree? Having said that, I instantly thought of a cute stamp I had that I thought worked well. To me, the stamp and the inspo photo both have flowers in unexpected or unusual places.

The stamp is called Basics: Floral Coffee Mug, and is from Ink Road Stamps. I stamped it using Memento ink, and then coloured it with colours pulled from the Inspiration Photo - Mint Macaron, Petal Pink, Daffodil Delight, Cinnamon Cider and Just Jade Stampin' Blends.

The sentiment is from Attention Shoppers, and the DSP is Mint Macaron gingham. It's one of my favourite ever SU colours, and the car was close enough in colour to justify using it on my card.

On the inside I stamped the main image again in second generation Mint Macaron ink, with another sentiment from Attention Shoppers. I accidentally cut the Whisper White cardstock too small, but I think it looks ok - just a larger border on the inside!

We'd love to see what inspires you from the Inspiration Photo. Will it be the car, the colours, or maybe the flowers? You can see what the Design Team made over on the Just Add Ink blog. You can also link up your card when you're ready.

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI 731: Just Add Inspiration

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week Kerry has found an Inspiration photo to guide our creativity.

There's so much in this photo to choose from! I was taken with the jug of flowers at the bottom left, but I couldn't find the stamp that I wanted to use in my stash - I must have sold it! I then decided to combine the jug and the mug ideas on my card.

I started by using an ink blending brush to apply some Crumb Cake ink to my Whisper White card base. I love the colours in the Inspiration photo, and this was a good way to add in the light browns. I then splattered the card with some Vegas Gold Shimmer Paint. I thought that it looked a bit like the twinkling lights in the background.

The mug dies are from Ink Road Stamps, and are called Basics: Floral Coffee Mug. I cut the outline and detailed dies in Thick Whisper White card and then adhered the layers together. Adhesive sheets made this a snap! I then used my Granny Apple Green, Poppy Parade and Daffodil Delight Blends to colour the flowers and leaves. I then added another layer of the detailed die over the top to hide any messy colouring!

The Ink Road Stamps dies also come with a matching stamp, so I used this on the inside. I really love it! The sentiments that I used are from Stampin' Up!'s Attention Shoppers stamp set.

That's all from me for tonight, but your job is just beginning! You can pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll see what else our Design Team took from the Inspiration Photo. You can add your card to the challenge through our Linky.

Bye for now,

Tina

JAI 555: Just Add Colour

 Hi!

Hooray for Friday! It's been a busy week, so I'm glad for the slower weekend. Hopefully lots of craft time - I am two months behind on a quilting Block Of The Month and I would like to get caught up. Fingers crossed!

In the meantime, though, it's time for the new Just Add Ink Challenge. This week Rachael has given us a very pretty colour combo to play with.  I certainly had lots of fun with it!

The die I used is from Ink Road Stamps and is called Basics: Floral Coffee Mug. It's actually a duo - a stamp and two dies, but I have only used the dies this time. One die is detailed, the other is the outline. You can see that I've cropped the outline in Whisper White to layer under the coloured detailed image.

I cropped the detailed image from Basic Black and each of the challenge colours, after I'd applied Adhesive Sheet to the back of the cardstock. I peeled away the black outline and adhered it to the white layer, before peeling away each of the coloured sections and adding them to the appropriate outlined section. It was slow and fiddly, but I was so pleased with how it turned out. The black outline really makes the colours pop!

I used the leftover outline pieces to decorate the inside - you know how much I dislike wastage! I carefully snipped them so they were just the flowers and leaves, and then laid the Magenta piece over the Jade piece. It still needed a little more, so I coloured in each section with the coordinating Light Blend. Done!

That's all from me for this week, but please do head on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll find the rest of this week's Design Team cards. You'll also find the Linky so that you can join in with the challenge. What do you see in these colours?

Bye for now,

Tina
