JAI #528: Just Choose Two

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week our Birthday Girl, Jan, has set the challenge, which is to Just Choose Two of Sequins, Ribbon or Metallic Foil. What does that mean? You just choose at least two of the listed items to add to your card - easy!

I was initially going to choose sequins and foil, but my card led me in a different direction.

I started with the background DSP, which is from a retired pack called Shine On SDSP. The silver foil raindrops pair perfectly with Under My Umbrella, don't you think? The ribbon I selected is also retired, but only last year. It's the Granny Apple Green Textured Weave Ribbon.

The images from Under My Umbrella were stamped with Memento ink and coloured with my Blends. I used the Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Pumpkin Pie, Highland Heather and Flirty Flamingo combos.

I coloured some extra images to use on the inside. I haven't ever done the 'upside down umbrella with flowers inside' before, so this was the perfect time. It's a bit cute!

JAI #447: Just Add A Sketch

Welcome to another week of Just Add Ink! This week Narelle has designed an awesome sketch for us to use. It's fabulous - certainly open to many different ways to interpret.

I happened to be looking at the sketch as I heard the song 'Purple Rain' on the radio, and so my card was born from that!

I started by brayering some Gorgeous Grape ink over a piece of the retired Shine On SDSP. The card is Kraft with a silver foil pattern, so the purple turned out very differently to how I expected. It's a lot closer to Fresh Fig. Oh well, it's still purple! I embossed a piece of Silver Foil with the Subtle DTIEF. I love how the texture looks a bit like rain, which certainly fits with the theme of my card!

To create the sentiment I pulled out my old typewriter. It took a few goes to get it right, as I typed too fast and I ended up with spaces in the middle of words. I got there in the end! My rock star is from a Kindred Stamps stamp set called Rock On.  He was a fun one to colour! I used my Highland Heather, Basic Grey, Basic Black, Bronze and Ivory Blends to colour him. I also used a silver metallic sharpie to colour his guitar. I wasn't sure about those little triangles on his face - I thought maybe they were his collar, but perhaps it's meant to be facial hair? Anyone know?

I repeated the same elements on the inside. I really love the sparkly black ribbon, and I'm so glad it carried over from the Holiday Catalogue so that I can use it for a bit longer.

Blackberry Bliss and a Silver Lining

Hi!


Today's card has four retiring products - the gorgeous Shine On Specialty DSP and the colours Blackberry Bliss and Mossy Meadow. Not so obvious on this card is the Banner punch.

I love the Silver Foil rain drop accents in the heavy weight Kraft cardstock. They are so pretty! The rich Blackberry Bliss was the perfect colour to team with the Kraft and Silver.

This card was made as a class sample. Silly me forgot to remind my ladies to slip the sentiment piece into the back of the Banner punch to create the flagged ends. Lucky I had plenty of thin strips of Whisper White scraps ready to use as replacements!

The row of flowers is so cute, don't you think? Hopefully this is a card that will cheer up the recipient.
