JAI #329: Just Add Inspiration

Hi!

http://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2016/09/just-add-ink-329inspiration.html

This week at Just Add Ink we have an Inspiration Challenge for you, suggested by Di. Aren't those tulips gorgeous?

http://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2016/09/just-add-ink-329inspiration.html

I must admit that it took me a little while to work out what I was going to do for my card. I don't have any tulip stamps, so I had to improvise a little. In the end I decided on splatters to represent the flowers and leaves.

I was quite pleased with how it turned out in the end. I think the mix of colours works well.

As usual, I carried the front theme to the inside of the card. The splatter stamp is from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set.

What do you see in the inspiration photo? Make sure you link your creation up at the Just Add Ink blog so we can check it out!

JAI #322: Just Add Colour

Hi!

Gosh, this Friday really snuck up on me! First week back at school after the holidays always has that effect on me.

http://just-add-ink.blogspot.com.au/2016/07/just-add-ink-322colour.html

This week at Just Add Ink we have a colour challenge. It's such a soft, pretty combination, suggested by Rochelle.

I'm a really big fan of pink/brown combos, so this was right up my alley. I decided to get out my brand new Moroccan Nights stamp set to use with the combo.

I really love how this card turned out. Most people would automatically go for the Regals colours when stamping with this set, but I think it looks just as good with the softer colours. What do you think?

Hopefully you can see in this picture that I added some Wink Of Stella to the lanterns. I love the subtle glitter the clear pen adds.

The rest of the Design Team have made some absolutely gorgeous cards using this combo. You can see their cards on the Just Add Ink blog.

Sugarplum Swirls

Hi!

MMMMM, Sugarplum Swirls - sounds like a fabulous new lolly (candy), doesn't it? Unfortunately it's not, but it is a fabulous new In Colour. Such a gorgeous, dusky purply-pink.

For this card I paired it with Pear Pizzazz and Very Vanilla. It's a really soft, vintage inspired combo. What do you think?

I stamped the little splatters underneath the swirl for a little extra interest on the card. The tiny flowers are really sweet, and sit nicely on the swirl.

The splatters feature again on the inside, but this time stamped off first so that they didn't overwhelm the sentiment.

Have you tried out the new In Colours yet? Which is your favourite? I think I'm still deciding!

JAI #311: Just Add Masking

Hi!

We are back with another week of challenges at Just Add Ink. This week Nikki has challenged us to Just Add Masking to our projects. I needed to make a Mother's Day card for my Mother-in-Law, so I decided to make a floral card for her.

I have been a bit obsessed with colouring lately, especially with using my retired Blendabilities markers. I decided to make the card with the large flower in Birthday Blossoms so that I had good sized flowers to colour.

I used my Rich Razzleberry Blendabilites to colour the flowers while I was watching TV. Silly me got distracted and opened one of my markers over my work, leaving a splatter on the cardstock. There was no way I was going to scrap my work, so I ended up opening and closing my marker over the card a few times so that I ended up with the splatters all over the front. A very happy accident, as I love the end result!

Even though this set is a birthday stamp set, I think it works really nicely as a Mother's Day card. The stamps I used aren't specific to a birthday - and honestly - Mother's Day should be a day about celebrating mothers.

The rest of the Design Team have done a fabulous job the masking challenge. You can see their gorgeous cards, and join in the challenge, over at the Just Add Ink blog.

A Nice Cuppa CASE

Hi!

Today's card is a CASE of this card by Patsy Waggoner.

I loved Patsy's card, but as this was for a class, I also wanted to showcase the coordinating Have A Cuppa DSP Stack. Hence, I changed all the colours to suit the DSP, but kept most of the layout elements the same as Patsy's card.

Here's I've use Bermuda Bay, Wisteria Wonder and Melon Mambo on Whisper White. The sentiment is from Sky Is The Limit, which retired from the SAB line up on Monday.

I finished my card off with another teacup on the inside.  I like the way the DSP heart ties it in with the front of the card, plus it's just a bit cute.

JAI #282: Just Add Inspiration

Hi!

It's school holidays here and I've had a lovely week home with my children.  The older two got a bit of a taste of freedom/independence on Wednesday when I allowed them to walk to our local library on their own.  It's about a 10 minute walk along a main road so I was hoping it was fairly low risk.  Three and a half hours later they returned, happy after an afternoon spent playing Lego and Minecraft and browsing the bookshelves. One relieved mummy here!

Anyway, on with today's Just Add Ink challenge.  This week Narelle has put together a gorgeous inspiration photo board for you.

Isn't it fabulous? There's so much you could do with these pictures!

I decided to go with the pot of flowers sitting on top of the books on the chair in the right side picture. I stamped the leaves from Sprinkles of Life first so that I'd get a few leaves sticking out the sides of the flowers.  A few tiny pearls complete the flowers.

The background DSP is one of the Silver sheets from the Neutrals Stack.  Did you know that instead of Whisper White and Very Vanilla the Neutrals Stack has Silver and Gold?  Such a great idea!

I had a few extra flowers left over from the front of the card so I added them to the inside to finish it off.  I hate waste!

The rest of the Design Team have come up with some fabulous cards for this week's challenge.  You can see them over on the Just Add Ink blog. We hope you can join in the fun this week.

Birthday Blossoms Catalogue CASE

Hi!

Today's card is one I CASEd from page 8 of the Annual Catalogue. I had been browsing online for inspiration for a card made using the Birthday Blossoms stamp set and lots of different variations of the same card kept popping up.  I quite liked it so decided to CASE the card.  It wasn't until a few weeks later when I was flicking through the catalogue that I realised that everyone had been CASEing the card in the catalogue!

I made a few changes, most obvious is that I changed the colour scheme.  I used one of my favourite combos: Always Artichoke, Rose Red and Very Vanilla. The large flowers are stamped on Blushing Bride cardstock. I also used the Decorative Label punch to finish off the banner piece instead of the Lots Of Labels Framelits.

I also tied my Linen Thread a little higher and used Dazzling Diamonds on the centre of the flowers.  Such a lovely, subtle shimmer.

I love the stamp with the smaller flowers - it's pretty much the reason I bought the set! It's a great way to finish off the inside of the card, don't you think?
