OnStage Sydney Beautiful Moments Presentation: Avid Samples

Hi!

Here's the third and final part of my OnStage Presentation sample posts. This time I have my Avid Crafter samples for the gorgeous Beautiful Moments stamp set. An Avid Crafter is one who stamps nearly every day and has to have it all! Sound familiar? I am definitely an Avid Crafter!! They definitely want more difficult projects and are willing to spend a lot of time (and money) on one card.

This card, using the Reflection Technique on my Stamparatus, was the card I demonstrated live on the day. It was a little nervewracking, but I did it! The hardest part is getting the water wash over the reflection part of the image to look right. I used Blueberry Bushell ink and an Aqua Painter. The rest of the image was coloured beforehand with my Aqua Painter and ink pads.

Once the Blueberry Bushell was was dry, I flicked my Chalk Marker over the top to give the look of light reflecting off ripples in the water.

I finished the inside with the image again in Crushed Curry Ink.

This image was originally a 'just trying things out' sample that turned out nicely enough to go on a card. I stamped the image on Shimmery White card using a no-line stamping technique and then coloured them with my Watercolour Pencils and an Aquapainter.

I layered two of the Stitched Labels to go behind the image panel.

The girls were stamped in Coastal Cabana to finish off the inside.

I used the Bridge Fold to create this card. All of the colouring was done on Watercolour Paper using my ink pads and Aqua Painter. I stamped using Stazon Ink.

I added a second row of flowers to the middle of the card, between the front layer and the back, to give the card more depth.

The back of the card uses Shimmery White card, as it copes well with watercolouring, but is smooth to write on.

This card is my absolute favourite of all the cards I made. It was the very first idea I had when I saw Jacque's stamp set - how well it would work with A Good Man. 'Perfectly' is the answer!

I used my Stamparatus and stocky notes to stamp and mask the images, starting with the dad/girl, then the mum/girl, and finally the island - which is actually an outline of Rangitoto Island, just off Auckland. A nice homage to Jacque's adopted hometown! I stamped on watercolour paper using Stazon ink and then coloured with my ink pads and Aqua Painter.

Once again, I used Shimmery White cardstock on the inside so that I could watercolcour.

I also made a couple of scrapbook pages for the Presentation, to show how versatile the set is for all paper crafters. I'd recently been in Auckland for April's OnStage event, so I scrapped a photo of the family there, and another of Rangitoto Island. This will be the opening page of my album.

I also made a pocket page of my sisters and I when we were lots younger and entered a sandcastle building competition.

The two little girls on the beach were the perfect image for this page!

CTC #252: CASE A Layout

Gee, these weeks are flying past! Once again, it is Sunday night, which makes it time for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. The blog before mine was Sandra's,and mine is officially last on the list, but we are all linked in a circle, so just keep hopping until you get back to where you started.

This week we are CASEing a layout from page 52 of the Holiday Catalogue. It's tricky this week, as there aren't any cards to directly CASE - you have to think a little more!

My eye was caught this week by the box at the top of the image above. I liked how the leaves peeked out from under the layers above. I took basically the same design, I just made it bigger for a card front.

While I do own the Ornate Frames dies, they weren't quite the right size of shape for my card. I used a Stitched Label instead, and added a Pine Tree punched shape to the front. Instead of leaves peeking out, I cut strips of the Shaded Spruce and Gold ribbon instead.

The Gold Foil label is a great base for the Shaded Spruce tree, cropped from some retired Regals DSP. The wooden star I topped the tree with was from my stash. I pushed it onto my Cherry Cobbler ink pad to colour it before glueing it to the foil.

I used another strip of the Cherry Cobbler DSP from the front on the inside with another of the punched trees. I really love that punch for Christmas cards! The sentiment is from the Hostess set, Greatest Part Of Christmas. It's such a pretty font and sentiment.

CTC #233: CASE A Layout

Gosh, what a busy weekend I've had - I can't believe it's nearly over! The best part about the end of the weekend is that it's CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop time. Hooray! The blog before mine is Peta's, but as always, it doesn't matter where you start, just keep hopping until you get back to where you started.

This week we are selecting a card from page 36 and CASEing the layout. There are 7 different cards to choose from, so plenty of inspiration to be had. The Mossy Meadow card a the top left caught my eye - the cluster of elements on the card looked fun to play with.

I went with the new In Colour, Pretty Peacock, for my card base, and used the Woodland Embossing Folder simply because I hadn't used it for a while!

I followed the basic layout of the cluster fairly closely, but substituted for different items. The scallop layer is a partial die cut of a Stitched Label using Rococo Rose that was left over from another card. The feathers and sentiment are from the Hugs From Shelli Paper Pumpkin Kit. I stamped the feathers in Pretty Peacock and then used a slightly damp Aqua Painter over the top to colour them. It has the added advantage of curling the feathers a bit, giving the card a little dimension. The Copper Thread is from the Notes Of Kindness kit, and the pearls are from the retired Share What You Love Artisan Pearl pack.

Another feather completes the inside. It was coloured in the same manner as the feathers on the front.

A Rosey Birthday Card

Whoot, whoot! Here we are for another 5 week of Colour Creations! We couldn't finish without adding on the new In Colours - that wouldn't be fun! This week we are looking at Rococo Rose. It's a lovely deep disks pink, and I'm sad to say that my photos don't do it justice at all - it's not as orange as my photos would let you think.

I decided to make a full sized tri fold card. I made a smaller version a few weeks ago for Shaded Spruce, but this time I wanted to go big! I cut my piece of Rococo Rose cardstock at nearly 6 inches longways, and then scored at 4 and 8 inches to create the folds. I then used my Stitched Labels dies to create the window in the front panel. It gives a lovely shape, with the bonus of having a Rococo Rose label o use on another project! I stamped some flowers from Free As A Bird over the front in coordinating ink. The yellow flowers were fussy cut from Bird Ballad DSP.

For the next section of the card I stamped the birds in Memento ink and then coloured them using a combo of my Watercolour Pencils and my Wink Of Stella pen. The sentiment is from the Lots Of Happy Card Kit, which carried over to the new Annual Catalogue. Silly me stamped it a little too high, and so I had to add an extra fussy cut grouping of flowers on the front to cover it up!

Here's the final panel. The key DSP can be seen when the second panel is held closed, so it does double duty on the card. Those keys make me want to make something Harry Potter-ish, I just need to think what!

CTC #223: Classic Garage

Yay! It's just three more sleeps until I fly out for Auckland and Stampin' Up!'s OnStage event, and it's starting to get really exciting! I can't wait to see all my demo friends and to get the goss on all the new SU stuff being released. In the meantime though, it's time for the new CASEing the Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. You may ave arrived here from Sandra's blog, or be starting here - it doesn't matter, just keep hopping until you've seen everyone's blog.

This week we are CASEing projects from the Classic Garage section of the Occasions Catalogue. I have really enjoyed making cards using the Classic Garage DSP, but this time I decided to go the complete opposite direction.

I started with the layout of the grey card above, but pulled out my Petal Promenade DSP to make it as girly as possible. Do you think I've succeeded?

You can see how I've kept everything as much the same as I can in terms of the layout and elements, I've just swapped for very feminine alternatives. The rose paper that forms the larger banner was distressed around the edges, scrunched and then smoothed to create some texture and dimension. The smaller banner already looked scrunched, so it was just adhered as is!

I stamped the flowers from Bike Ride in Sahara Sand, stamped off once, around the Stitched Labels die cut. The flowers in the Label Me Pretty image were stamped in Tranquil Tide and then coloured with my Blushing Bride marker. I had to be careful to not colour over the TT lines, as this would pull the colour into the BB and make it look muddy.

A strip of that gorgeous rose DSP was used to finish off the inside. It's such pretty paper - it reminds me of a bridal bouquet.

CTC #211: All My Love

Hello again, and welcome to the new week's CASEing The Catty Blog Hop! This week the blog before mine is Peta's. It really doesn't matter where you start - just keep on going until you get back to where you started. When you're done, why not pop on over to the Facebook group to enter a card?

This week I picked a card from page 7. It can be a bit tricky to think about how to CASE a card when you don't have any of the same products. Actually, I probably shouldn't say tricky, as it's not really, it just takes a little more thought.

The card I CASEd is quite soft with its colours, but I went in the other direction and went bold so that I could play with the new Happiness Blooms DSP.

You can see that my card is essentially the same, I've just used what I have in my stash. The flowers were all fussy cut from the DSP as I don't yet own the Bloom By Bloom stamp set.

I also had to substitute for the Stitched Labels die, as I don't have the die used on the card, which is from the Rose Trellis set. It just goes to show that a CASE can be more than a direct copy.

I'm sorry I don't have my usual picture of the inside today - I'd mailed the card before I realised that the photo I'd taken was too blurry to be used. You'll just have to imagine that I stamped the tall, thin sentiment from Picture Perfect Birthday and adhered a few of the smaller flowers in a cluster beside it. Can you picture it? I hope so!

CTC #207

Hi!

I'm playing along again with the CASEing the Catty Challenges, which this week was to CASE anything but a card from either of the current catalogues. After a quick flick through each, I decided to CASE the middle tag at the top of page 20.

I kept the basic parts the same - I used the same Botanical Tags die over the same piece of Wood Textures DSP, and used the same layout for the sentiment section, but otherwise I changed a lot around. If you have a look at your catalogue you can see that while I used all the same colours, I flipped a lot of them around - my tag is Fresh Fig, not Crumb Cake as in the catalogue.

I don't actually own the Botanical Bliss stamp set, so I had to improvise with what I had instead. I used the leaf die from the Botanical Tags set to create the textured base of my card. I simply cut a heap of the leaves in Crumb Cake and glued them to the base using my Fine Tip Glue. The Wood Textures DSP was brayered with Mint Macaron ink, as was the bird die from the Birds and Blooms Frameilts set. The button is from the True Gentleman pack, and sentiment label is from the Stitched Labels Framelits set. The stamp is from the Soft Sayings Kit. Finally, the Mint Macaron Twine is from the Nature's Twine set. it was took thick as it comes, so I simply pulled one of the strands out to use on the front.

I used the left over twine to finish off the inside, alongside the extra bird I cut from the scrap I'd brayered for the front. Sometimes it pays to think ahead to the inside when you're making the little bits and pieces for the front! The inside sentiment is from another card kit, this time it's the Notes Of Kindness kit.
