Layout 16: Pony Ride

Hi!

Some more scrapbooking for you today.  I used some photos I'd taken at the Novita Christmas Party.  Novita is a wonderful charity that supports a lot of South Australian children who have disabilities.  The kids had a wonderful time doing a whole range of activities but I think their favourite was the pony rides.

I went a bit all out with the stitching on this layout!  I was trying to use up the last of my scraps of Jolly Holiday DSP so I punched a whole lot of circles.  I traced a circle template on the 12x12 cardstock several times.  Each time I moved it slightly to get a rougher look to the layout.  I then adhered the circle punchies around the circle and used my sewing machine to stitch another large circle in a straight stitch.  I also used a zig zag stitch to stitch down the circles behind the main photo and also some stitching in each corner.

I also used my colour spritzer to spritz the cardstock before I started adhering things to the page.  In a few places I spritzed really close to the page to give a different, rougher effect.  You can see this under the letter 'd' in the title.

Layouts 5 to 8: Christmas 2010 Mini Album

Hi!

Today's project is another mini album I made to capture the holiday we had to visit my family over the Christmas break.  It's quite a large mini album - 14 double sided pages, each page being half of an A4 sheet of card stock.  I'm not going to show you every page - just a selected few.

I had lots of fun making this album.  There are a couple of pages that are pockets to hold some memorabilia.  We went to the National Dinosaur Museum in Canberra and the kids got Dinosaur Hunting licences, so of course I had to include them in the album.

The album was also a fantastic way of using up my left over Jolly Holiday DSP scraps.  On the pages that looked a little bare I used my colour spritzer to spritz the pages with the same colour ink as the base card stock.  You might be able to see the spritzing on the last page.

Christmas Theme Blog Hop

Welcome to another blog hop from a small but inspirational group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators.  Today's blog hop showcases some great ideas for Christmas projects.  The blog before me is Kristine Thompson's, but if you've started here that's ok.  Just keep hopping 'til you get round all 11 blogs and back to the start.

Today I have a layout for you.  Every year in Adelaide on the second Saturday in November we have the Christmas Pageant.  It's a massive parade full of crazy clowns, exciting floats, fabulous marching bands and a whole lot more!  We love to take the kids, especially when we are lucky enough to get seats in the Lord Mayor's Stand, which we did this year.  We also get to go to the Lord Mayor's Christmas Party after the Pageant.

Anyway, here's the layout.  Would you believe there are 27 photos in the layout?

Are you scratching your head and thinking "But I can only see one photo"?  Here's some of the rest of the photos:

I'm actually missing a photo of Santa in his sleigh for that part of the layout.  It will go on the panel where my watermark is sitting.

And even more! I used some small pieces of DSP to fill any gaps I had on these pages.

I have adhered two layers of acetate to the layout - one on either side of the base card stock.  On each sheet of acetate I have adhered cardstock as a basis for the photos.  Each layer of cardstock is slightly bigger than the one on top.  When the layout is fully closed the top photo looks as if it has triple matt.  I also stamped the acetate with snowflake stamps using White Stazon ink.

Because there are so many photos I decided to label them.  I used some retired Rub Ons called Anchored from about 2 years ago.  I used the white letters on the photos, and then the matching black letters on the journalling spot:

So that's my crazy layout of the 2010 Adelaide Christmas Pageant.  It took a whole day to put together but it's ended up as a fantastic memento of a wonderful day.

Season of Joy CASE

Hi!

I'm back into the Christmas card mode today!  The card I made was inspired by a card designed by Melinda Rowe.  I saw her card on a Stampin' Up! Demonstrators only forum and I can't find her in the blogging world, so I can't link to her original card.

Anyway, here's my card:

Very simple, but very effective.  I've used one of the FREE Mistletoe Ribbons across the middle of the card.  Gotta love a freebie!  The Christmas tree has been cut out and popped up on some dimensionals.

Gifted with Mistletoe Ribbon

Hi!

Back again with another Christmas card.  The plan as I was making this one last night was to make one and if I liked how it turned out I'd make another 4.  I've been doing this with my Christmas cards to build up my stash a bit more quickly.  In the end though I only got the one made as I got slightly distracted by Packed to the Rafters.  Fantastic episode, but very sad.

Anyway, here's my card.  Maybe I'll get the other 4 done tonight!

I started out by using the card on page 20 of the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalogue for inspiration.  In the end though, only the So Swirly across the bottom is the same.  I had received my Stampin' Up! order yesterday so I used some new goodies: the Scallop Trim border punch, Gifted stamp set and the FREE Mistletoe Ribbon from the Dress Up Christmas promotion.

A Couple of Christmas Cards

Hi!

Today I thought I'd share with you two Christmas cards I made recently.  Both were pretty easy to mass produce and I ended up making 5 of each.  I needed to make a dent in my Christmas card list!  The first card uses the lovely Dasher stamp paired with the new Jolly Holiday DSP.

 

Next I decided to try something a little different.  This striped paper from the Celebrations DSP pack reminded me of Candy Cane so I used it as the basis of my card.  I paired it with one of the free ribbons you can earn with a purchase of Christmas themed products.  Click on the Dress Up Christmas flyer in my sidebar to find out more.

Snow Swirled Holiday

Hi!

You know how sometimes when you sit down to create a card based on a sketch everything just falls into place and the card ends up looking like the sketch?  Well, this is not one of those cards!  I started out with the newest sketch at Stampin' Royalty but my finished card can best be described as a loose interpretation.

Yes, I know, it's so loose it would blow away on a gentle breeze lol.  It is a pretty cute card though, and it was inspired by the SR sketch!

Cherry Cobbler Christmas Card

Hi!

I did a little blog surfing last night before I made this card.  I was looking for a challenge to inspire me and as soon as I saw the current sketch at Card Patterns I knew exactly how I would interpret it.  Don't you love it when things fall into place like that?

I love the little Polka Dots in the DSP - so bright and cheerful.  I was aiming for the look of a Christmas Wreath for the centre circle with all the punched out leaves.

Pop Up Dasher

Hi!

I was lucky enough to win a free pass to the current UStamp with Dawn round, which was about cards with cool moves.  Thanks so much to Kathryn Mangelsdorf for the chance for the free pass.  She currently has another free pass up for grabs on her blog for the next round - Get a Jump Start on your Jingle - so pop on over for your chance to win.

The first card I tried is a free standing pop up card by Gilda Fellows.  I've always wanted to try one of these, so this was the perfect opportunity!

I think I cut the slot for the pop up section a bit too wide, but otherwise I was pretty happy with how this turned out.

 The new satin ribbon is perfect for the front of the base, and I'm totally loving the new Jolly Holiday DSP.

Jolly Dasher, or A Dashing Holiday?

I must admit, it's been a while, but I'm having a go at the latest Stampin' Royalty Challenge.  But before I show you my card, congratulations to Gardenia at A Little Less Useless for becoming the first Australian to have a place on the Design Team!

This week the challenge is to use this sketch:

Here's what I came up with:

I couldn't get the flowers in the top left of the sketch to work, so I replaced them with rhinestones.

I crimped a straight section of DSP to get the scalloped border around the oval panel - a handy little trick to know!
