JAI 701: Just Add Inspiration

 Hi!

Welcome to the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week we have an Inspiration challenge for you, suggested to us by Nikki.

Isn't it fab? The chairs look very comfy, and the floral decorations are gorgeous. I thought about stamps that I had that featured chairs, and settled on I Heart Books, by Three Room Studio.

I don't know that I'd be able to sit/lay like that and read anymore, but definitely when I was a teen! I coloured the image with my Stampin' Blends, using colours from the image. I couldn't resist adding a pink streak to her blonde hair.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Three Room Studio I Heart Books, One More Chapter, Clearly Besotted Bedtime Story, Stampin' Up! Stylish Shapes Dies, Abstract Beauty DSP

The sentiment is from a Clearly Besotted set, called Bedtime Story. Unsurprisingly to those who know me, I have quite a collection of book/reading themed stamps!

Haha, I could't resist adding this 'Ssshhh' stamp to the inside, along with a pile of books. Both are from another Three Room Studio set, called One More Chapter. When you're that involved in a book, the last thing you want is to be interrupted!

We'd love for you to play along this week. The Design Team have been fabulously creative in how they've taken inspiration from the challenge photo. What do you see in it? We'd love to know, and you can show us by adding your card to our Linky on the Just Add Ink blog.

Bye for now,

JAI 691: Just Add Inspiration

Hi!

Welcome to a new Just Add Ink challenge. This week we have an Inspiration Challenge for you, suggested to us by Kerry.

I love all of the moody blues in the collage, and my eye was drawn by the mandala-like circle on the left. Being the bookworm that I am, I also noticed that two of the images had books in them. There is so much to take from this image!

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Uniquely Creative Read Past Your Bedtime, Waffleflower Layered Books Dies, Stampin' Up! Waves Of The Ocean DSP, Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Paper, Three Room Studio One More Chapter

I delved into my retired papers for the basis of my card. The DSP is from the Waves Of The Ocean DSP. I chose a section of the paper that had a lot of dark blue, but also had touches of Coastal Cabana at the top. The white layer over the top was from my Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Paper pack. I popped it all over a Coastal Cabana Card base.

The stamped sentiment is from a Uniquely Creative stamp set, called Read Past Your Bedtime. Great advice, BTW, LOL! I paired it with some die cuts made using my Waffleflower Layered Books Dies.

The stamped sentiment on the inside is from a Three Room Studio stamp set, called One More Chapter. I also used offcuts from the DSP and laser cut paper from the front to decorate the insert. One final book, and the card was finished.

We'd love to see what takes your fancy from the Inspiration photo this week. There's soooo much to zoom in and look at. I'm sure that you'll create something magnificent, and when you do you can add it to the linky over on the Just Add Ink blog. You'll also find the rest of the Design Team's awesome creations on the blog.

JAI 689: Just Add Colour

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Just Add Ink Challenge. This week we have a Colour Challenge for you, suggested to us by Rochelle.

For some of us, it really was a challenge! The colours are gorgeous, but I struggled so hard with working out what to do. My tried and true method in instances like this is to use mostly white, with little splashes of the other colours. It didn't quite work out that way in the end!

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Waffleflower Book Cover Die, Layered Books Dies, Three Room Studio One More Chapter

I started with a Waffle Flower die, called Book Cover Die. I used it to crop some Tahitian Tide ink... but it looked too plain. I used another Waffle Flower Die set, called Layered Books Die, to crop the Gorgeous Grape book spines. They are slightly larger than the spines in the Book Cover Die, but close enough!

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Waffleflower Book Cover Die, Layered Books Dies, Three Room Studio One More Chapter

Unfortunately, I couldn't use the layering dies for the pages. I used the Book Cover Die to crop some Whisper White card, which I then hand cut to fit over the Tahitian Tide pages. I think the extra effort was worth it! A sentiment, from Three Room Studio's One More Chapter stamp set, finished off the front nicely.

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Waffleflower Book Cover Die, Layered Books Dies, Three Room Studio One More Chapter

I used a Gold Foil card as the base my card, but the Cover Die covered all of the gold foil edge! SO that I didn't waste it, I simply folded the card inside out and used it on the inside of the card. I used the One More Chapter stamp set and the Layered Book Dies to finish off the card.

We'd love to see what you do with these colours. They give a little bit of a tropical vibe to me. What do you think? You can see how the rest of the Design team used the combo on the Just Add Ink blog. You'll also find our Linky there when you're ready to add your card to the challenge gallery.

Freshly Made Sketches 518

 Hi!

Once again this week, I found time to play along with Freshly Made Sketches. I like to colour and create while I'm watching the cricket.

Their sketch this week is very simple and gives a lot of scope for interpretation. I recently received my Showtime Limited Edition Box from Kindred Stamps, and I decided to have a play with it.

My husband, who is a big user of memes, particularly wanted me to make a card using this tea-drinking froggy image. It tickles his funny bone, and mine. After I stamped him I masked him off so that I could stamp the stump from Foxy Friends.  Doesn't he look cute, perched up there?

scissorspapercard, Kindred Stamps, Three Room Studio, Showtime, Showtime Sentiments, One More Chapter, Copic Markers, Pop Culture Cards

I coloured the frog and his tea with my Copic markers.

The teacup on the inside is from a Three Room Studio stamp, called One More Chapter. Don't you love the punchline from the Showtime Sentiments stamp set? Hopefully the person that receives this card will know the meme!

JAI 557: Just Add Inspiration

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week it's an Inspiration challenge, and the photo was found by Rachael.

I struggled a bit with this, as the wreath and mantle decorations made me think of Christmas, but there is literally nothing to do with Christmas in the photo. I zoomed into the photo and looked all around, and finally spied the coffee mug sitting off to the side. Bingo!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Three Room Studio, Just Add Ink, One More Chapter, Sweet As A Peach, Birch, Natural Touch SP

My coffee mug is from a Three Room Studio stamp set, called One More Chapter. I coloured it with my Soft Succulent Blends and popped it up on my circle. I cropped the circle with my Stitched Shapes Dies, and lightly sponged on some Soft Succulent ink before I removed the cardstock from the die.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Three Room Studio, Just Add Ink, One More Chapter, Sweet As A Peach, Birch, Natural Touch SP

My backgrounds are a nod to the different textures and colours in the photo. The main background is the Birch stamp set, in stamped off Sahara Sand, and the strip of wood grain paper is the Natural Touch Speicalty Paper that was a special a couple of months ago.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Three Room Studio, Just Add Ink, One More Chapter, Sweet As A Peach, Birch, Natural Touch SP

I used the mug again on the inside, uncoloured this time. The sentiments on the card are from Sweet As A Peach. I really love the font of these sentiments.

That's all from me for tonight, but please do head on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you'll find the rest of this week's Design Team cards. You can also enter your card in our challenge when you decide what inspires you in the photo - the layout, the colours, the textures? Something else? It's entirely your interpretation!

One More Chapter

 Hi!

Are you a big reader? I sure am, so when I can combine my love of reading with my love of stamping, I am in total heaven! I found a stamp company that made a couple of stamp sets with book quotes and images. The company is called Three Room Studio, and they are based in Canada. They are running a weekly challenge, and I finally had a little time up my sleeve to be able to enter.

Such a cool sketch - there's a lot that could be done with those squares/diamonds. I went fairly literal, although I did change the orientation of my card, as my squares were too big for a landscape card. I used two TRS stamps: One More Chapter and I Heart Books.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Three Room Studio, One More Chapter, I Heart Books, Stitched Shapes Dies, Stamparatus

My Stamparatus was absolutely invaluable for stamping the background. I lined the cup, open book and glasses up on the plates and started stamping! The ability to move the plate along the hinge was absolutely essential in doing this. Luckily, too, each of the images was the perfect size for hinge step stamping!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Three Room Studio, One More Chapter, I Heart Books, Stitched Shapes Dies, Stamparatus

This sentiment is soooo me! It's actually one stamp, so I masked it off and stamped each line separately on the squares. I then chose an image that I felt suited each part of the sentiment to go with it. Instead of the banner in the sketch I added a length of ribbon. I had intended to pop up each of the squares, but after I'd laid them out, adhered the ribbon under the middle square and then popped the square up, I liked the look of the ribbon laying over the top of the other two. So, flat to the card they stayed!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Three Room Studio, One More Chapter, I Heart Books, Stitched Shapes Dies, Stamparatus

While I had the Stamparatus all set up with the image stamps, I decided I'd stamp a row across the bottom of my inside. I added the cute little heart to just one cup for a touch of whimsy. Of course, I then had to go back and carefully add a few hearts to the front of the card!

Tina

JAI #506: Just Add Inspiration

Hi!

Welcome back to this week's Just Add Ink challenge. This week Nikki has found a gorgeous Inspiration Photo to kick start our creativity. The colours are amazing!

I am beyond excited about tonight's card, as it features some stamps from a company that I only recently found. They are a Canadian company, called Three Room Studio. I ordered the stamps just before the world went a little crazy with COVID, and they took 2 months to arrive - I had nearly given up on ever getting them. But good things come to those who wait, and they finally showed up in my letterbox.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Three Room Studio, Just Add Ink, I Heart Books, One More Chapter, Watercolour Pencils

The image comes from a stamp set called I Heart Books - which is the story of my life! The sentiments are from the One More Chapter stamp set. Oh, I can sooo relate to that too! I am a huge reader, and so these stamps called to me! I coloured her with my watercolour pencils, as always blending with my Wink Of Stella. I've used softer versions of colours from the Inspiration photo, blue, purple and yellow.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Three Room Studio, Just Add Ink, I Heart Books, One More Chapter, Watercolour Pencils

I had a bit of fun playing with her hair. I coloured it in Daffodil Delight and then used my Early Espresso pencil to add shadows. I couldn't resist adding a Melon Mambo fringe, just for fun.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Three Room Studio, Just Add Ink, I Heart Books, One More Chapter, Watercolour Pencils

The inside sentiment is another big reason why I purchased the stamps. I'm totally happy when reading books and drinking tea! As a bonus, the set has the same sentiment, with with coffee. I'm sure you'll be seeing more cards made with these stamps in the future!

Pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog, where you can find the rest of this week's Design Team cards. Once you've worked out what grabs your attention in this week's Inspiration Challenge, you can add your card to the linky there too.

Bye for now,

JAI #500: Just Add A Die Cut Word

Hi!

Wow!! Just Add Ink is celebrating it's 500th Challenge with a massive Blog Hop! Thanks for joining us for the Hop, and hopefully the challenge. Are you starting here, or have you come from the lovely Kelly's blog? Her card is so beautiful! This week Jan has set the challenge, and it's an easy one!

Yes, Just Add A Die Cut Word to your card. The hard part will be choosing which word to add!

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Three Room Studio, All In This Together, Well Written Dies, Copic Markers

I decided to use this free digi stamp by Three Room Studio, called All In This Together, on my card. I printed the image and then coloured it with my Copics. I didn't do any blending with the markers, it was all just straight colouring. I chose some darker colours at the top and the bottom of the card, for the sky and the road/grass/front of the houses. I chose a lot of lighter colours for the rest of the card, hopefully this kept all the speech bubbles as the focus of the card.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Three Room Studio, All In This Together, Well Written Dies, Copic Markers

I used a scrap of Whisper White to create the speech bubble for the die cut words. It's really just a rectangle with a triangle at the bottom and rounded corners. I adhered the die cuts from the Well Written Dies  and popped the whole lot up on Dimensinals. The Die set doesn't actually have a letter I, so I just used the top of the exclamation mark for my I.

scissorspapercard, Stampin' Up!, Three Room Studio, All In This Together, Well Written Dies, Copic Markers

When I printed the digi stamp, the first attempt was a bit of a failure, as I forgot to alter one of the settings on my printer, and it was much too large. Oops! I was about to chuck out the mistake, but I noticed the three word bubbles and thought that they would work nicely for an inside sentiment. As a bonus, they match the front perfectly!

Our challenge is the same as it is every week, just make your die cut word card and add your link to the Just Add Ink blog. Before you go start making your card, don't forget to finish the rest of the Blog Hop! Next up is the fabulous Nikki, with her adorable card.

Bye for now,
