Softly With Sea Foam

Sigh, we are getting close to the end now! This week we are using Soft Sea Foam on our Colour Creations Blog Share cards. It's a new colour, nearly a year old, but not a colour I've used a lot. It's a softer green and not yet a colour I automatically think of when I think about soft greens.

I decided to ink up my new stamp set, A Good Man, for the first time. It's a set that went straight to the top of my 'must have' list when I first saw it. I love that it's a masculine set that's not cars, fishing, hunting or tools. My hubby is more of a gamer, so those types of sets just aren't him. He's a great dad, so this set was just perfect. Having said that, I haven't used either of the 'dad' images on my card!

LOL, Rob would quite like relaxing like this though! I coloured the image with my Blends and then layered it on some Tranquil Textures DSP. The sentiments I've used on the card are a bit of a generic, have a great day, type. I love that this means the card would work for either a birthday or Father's Day.

The man's shirt was coloured with my Soft Sea Foam Blends. I used Night Of Navy on his shorts and Smokey Slate on the chair. His legs were a mix of Ivory and Petal Pink, while the ground was Crumb Cake. The 'sky' was created by colouring around the image with the light Balmy Blue marker and then going over it with the Colour Lifter marker to soften the colour and blur the edge. It's such a cool effect!

I stamped the same image inside, this time just using Soft Sea Foam ink and leaving it as just the outline. I don't think the inside needs more.

Enjoying Macaron On The Waterfront

Welcome back to Colour Creations for 2019! This year/week we are kicking off with one of my all-time favourite colours - Mint Macaron. When I found out that is was returning in the recent Colour Refresh I may have jumped up and down and even squealed a little. LOL!

The idea for todays card came about because I had a piece of Mint Macaron DSP from the Tranquil Textures DSP pack that was too small to be used as a full sized card front. Easy fix - chop it up and stretch it out! I started by chopping a piece off the bottom and then chopping that in thirds. The top piece was then chopped the same way before all pieces were adhered to the Night Of Navy cardstock. The trick is to just adhere a small section until you are happy with the placement.

I tried something new to me with stamping the main panel. After I cut the Stitched Circle, I left the cardstock in the die while I stamped the scene. I like that it leaves the stitched border white, but not in a uniform way like masking would. I think I'll be trying this again!

I repeated the same scene on the inside. Did you notice that on the palm trees I stamped the trunks twice, but the fronds a heap more, including second generation stamping to get different shades of Mint Macaron? It makes the palms so much more lush, as befits a tropical scene.

JAI #411: Just Add A Sketch

Woot woot for Friday - it's been a long week this week! It's so close to the weekend, and I can't wait. In the meantime, let's get stuck into the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week Jan has designed this awesome sketch to work with.

I'm usually very literal with sketches - why reinvent the wheel if someone else has done the hard work? This time, though, I took a few liberties.

This card was made a few weeks ago, so it has a bit of a mix of old and new products. The new are now available, with the new Annual Catalogue going live today. Yay! The DSP I have used is from the new Tranquil Textures DSP pack. It's designed to coordinate with the Tranquil Textures suite, which is a very ocean themed suite. I'm not mad on the ocean stuff, but I love the grungy, textured paper in the pack. It's an awesome way to get the look without having to make any mess!

Instead of the heart shaped element, I used some Copper Trim. I cut a length around 12cm, threaded it onto my thumb and then cut along the tube to open it up flat. I then teased it out to make a flat net, which was adhered under the sentiment panel. I probably should have cut a longer piece so that it stuck out a little more, but it's very hard to tell how big the piece will end up when its still in ribbon form.

The anchors are from the now retired Guy Greetings, stamped in Fresh Fig to match the colours in the DSP. I stamped off the one on the front, but the one on the inside is full strength. The sentiments are from Picture Perfect Birthday.
