JAI #456:Just Add Inspiration

Hi!

Yay for Friday! It's been a long, wet miserable week here in Adelaide, and I'm ready for the weekend. Perhaps I can convince the family to snuggle on the lounge and watch a movie. Sounds like a good plan to me! Anyway, this week Nikki has given us our Just Add Ink challenge. It's this gorgeous Inspiration challenge.

Aren't those white on white daisies beautiful? Wouldn't that be a nice bouquet to receive on Mother's Day? Funnily enough, I didn't even think of doing a Mother's Day card for this challenge until just now. Too late for that now!

I made a thank you note card instead that is a little farewell to Lemon Lime Twist. Sob! It's a colour I've really come to love and will miss a lot, especially in gingham. I may have to put aside a little secret stash so that I can continue to enjoy it.

The daisy was made using two layers of the punched shape. I usually use three, but this time two worked nicely. I would have loved to have the new Medium Daisy punch to add another couple of layers, but alas, it's not available until June.

On the inside (and on the envelope too, even though it's not shown) I stamped the daisy twice to get the same look as the daisy on the front. Thankfully the stamp is photopolymer, so it's not too difficult to line up and stamp a second time.

CTC #225: Easter

Welcome to the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. I'm the start of the hop this week, which surprises me, as I'm usually not that organised!

This week we are celebrating Easter by CASEing our favourite Easter projects from either of the current catalogues, or you could take a non-Easter card and make an Easter version. Whatever you like! When flicking through for inspiration, this cute bunny card caught my eye.

It's from page 22 of the Occasions Catalogue, which shows how some products from the Occasions Catalogue tie back to some from the Annual Catalogue. That wasn't what intrigued me though, it was the stitched lines at the top and bottom of the card - can you see them? I decided to run with that, but also step it up a little.

I used the largest circle in the Stitched Shapes die set to cut the background. I started by lightly drawing some guidelines on the Highland Heather card and then cutting the middle circle. I left the circle in place and then cropped the two either side. I then adhered everything piece by piece onto a piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock and mounted it on my Gorgeous Grape base.

How sweet are these daisies? They are from a new set from the upcoming Annual Catalogue called Daisy Lane. These are smaller than our current daisies and will have a punch to match. Sadly for me, I don't have the punch yet, as I had to fussy cut the six daisies I stamped and coloured with Blends. The leaves are also from the same stamp set.

I'd originally planned to make the daisies on the front with three layers, but I quite liked the look of just two. As I's already stamped and coloured six, it meant that I had two spare for the inside. Yay!  was very happy to discover that the new colour family DSP stacks have a gingham print, so very soon we will have gingham in all of our colours. Double yay!

JAI #453: Just Choose Two

Can you believe it's Friday again? I'm back from New Zealand and ready to get stuck back into all things Stampin' Up! I just need to get over the jet lag first! LOL. In the meantime, the new Just Add Ink challenge is ready to kick off. This week Jan has challenged us to Choose Two to add to our cards.

I have to admit that I groaned when I saw this challenge, as it's naturally geared towards Easter, and I don't usually make Easter cards. I decided by choosing bunnies and flowers I could make a card that could be used as a baby card instead. Hooray!

I ended up absolutely loving this card! I pulled out my retired Garden Girl stamp set for the images, and my Stamparatus to make the wreath part of the card. I was so thrilled with how it turned out. The gingham was a late addition to the card, but Im so glad I thought to add it - perfect for either a baby or Easter card.

The images were all stamped on Shimmery White cardstock in Memento ink and then coloured with my Watercolour pencils. While you wouldn't usually use Memento with water, my blending medium was Wink Of Stella, which is alcohol based. This means the ink won't run when I blend the pencils. Hopefully you can see how super glittery the image ends up when you use WOS on Glimmer Paper!

Another cute little bunny graces the inside. I masked him off and stamped some flowers behind and coloured them the same was as the ones on the front, using Wink Of Stella to blend the pencil. Did you notice there are no sentiments at all on the card? I will add them later when I decide what to do with the card.

CTC #221: Needlepoint Nook

Hooray for Sunday and the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. Not so much hooray for the end of the weekend, but you can't have it all. At least it's going out in style LOL.

The blog before mine was the wonderful Julia Quinn, if you started here, there, or anywhere - it doesn't matter, just keep hopping until you get back to where you started.

This week we are CASEing projects from the Needlepoint Nook section of the Occasions Catalogue. Would you believe that, despite me enjoying a bit of sewing and needlecraft, I don't own anything from this suite of products? I wish I could have it all! For today's card it just meant that I had to be a little bit inventive.

The inspiration for my card ended up being the word 'friend' on the Berry Burst card to the right in the photo. I like how it was stamped and fussy cut closely around the word. It seems to be a bit of a trendy look in the paper crafting world at the moment. And look, I managed to scrounge up a small piece of DSP out of a Make & Take pack from Orlando.

I wanted to make a thank you card for a new friend who helped me a lot when I recently tried my hand at quilting. Sandra was one of my Orlando housemates and she is a very experienced quilter, only too happy to share her knowledge and experience as I made my first. The DSP was't anywhere big enough to cover the front of the card, so I had to get a little bit fancy. Then I realised it sort of looked like a patchworked piece, and that made me happy! The gingham is from the Gingham Gala DSP pack.

I don't have the stamp set from the Needlepoint Nook suite, so I used a Well Written framelit instead. I adhered a piece of a Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet to the back of a scrap of Berry Burst and then sent it through the Big Shot. The adhesive sheets are awesome for these small die cuts! I then peeled off the backing, adhered the word to a scrap of Whisper White and got to work with my snips. I was so happy with how it turned out.

I had one tiny scrap of the Needlepoint Nook DSP left, but it wasn't wide enough for a standard inside. Gingham Gala to the rescue again!

CTC# 212: Sale-A-Bration

It's the end of another busy week, which makes it time for the CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop!

I do love a good blog hop! The blog before mine belongs to the talented Judy May. You may have started there, or anywhere on the hop - it doesn't matter. Just keep on hopping until you get back to where you started. Hopefully by the end you'll be inspired to enter out challenge.

This week we are back to CASEing the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue. It's got heaps of great cards, so it was hard to narrow it down to just one. I CASEd a card from the front cover last time, so I decided to head for the back of the catalogue for inspiration this time. I decided I's CASE this card, from the bottom of page 18.

I don't have the Lasting Lily stamp set, but a few days ago I saw a card on the FB, where a demonstrator had punched some daisies from the Gingham Gala DSP. I was keen to give it a go, so this card seemed like a great way to do it.

I used the coordinating Daisy Delight stamp set to create the stem of the daisy. I don't like the tiny little leaves on the stem, so I just used a marker to ink the stem part. I then used the larger leaf stamp and the filler stamp to add the leaves. Much better proportions!

The daisy centre needed a little something, so I added this huge (retired) Iced Rhinestone. I think it finishes off the card quite nicely! How cute does the gingham daisy look? I just can't get enough of this DSP!

I often use 3 layers on my daisies, but this time it didn't look right. I'd already punched the third daisy, so I decided to use it on the inside rather than waste it. I just snipped it in half, layered it, and glued to it to corner of the cardstock, trimming it to fit.
