JAI #134: Just Add Polka Dots

Hi!

Yes, it's Friday, and another JAI challenge.  This week Trish has put forward a challenge to Just Add Polka Dots to our projects.  I needed to make a baby card, and I though the polka dots were a cute touch.

I made this card a little while ago, so it has a mix of old and new products.  A sad farewell to the Fox And Friends stamp set, and also the satin ribbon.  The colour I have used are two of the gorgeous new In Colours - Raspberry Ripple and Primrose Petals.  Does Raspberry Ripple make you think about a huge ice cream cone?  Mmmmm, yum!

I stamped the frame and sentiment in Raspberry Ripple and the turtle in Primrose Petals.  They are such lovely, complimentary colours.

Some more retired stamping on the inside!  Oops, I should think a bit more when choosing my products for projects!

Stamps: Happy Moments, A Word For You, Fox And Friends (retired), Well Scripted (retired)
Ink: Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals
Cardstock: Primrose Petals, Whisper White
Other: Big Shot, Labels Collections Framelits, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Whisper White Satin Ribbon (retired), Basic Jewels Rhinestones, Dimensionals

As usual, I hope you can play along with us this week at Just Add Ink.

Bye for now,

Tina

Elegant Soiree Male Birthday Card

Hi!

A quick post today.  This was a birthday card I made last month for a male friend using Elegant Soiree DSP.  I love the colours in this DSP - they are as equally suitable for a female as a male.

I used the Classic Stars jumbo wheel for the stars on the front.  I rolled the wheel on Very Vanilla cardstock and then cut out the individual stars.  A star brad from the Pretties Kit and a sentiment and it's done!

Stamps: Classic Stars Jumbo Wheel, Happy Moments (2010 SAB)
Ink: Baja Breeze
DSP/Cardstock: Elegant Soiree DSP, Basic Grey, Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze
Other: Paper Snips, Word Window L punch, Star Brad (Pretties Kit)

Helping Hudson Thank You Cards

Hi!

I thought it was about time I showed you the cards I sent out to the wonderful ladies who contributed tutorials to the Helping Hudson fundraiser.  As I had  lot to make I needed to keep the design fairly simple but still very pretty.  I based the design on the card on page 111 of the current Idea Book and Catalogue.

I liked the idea of all the thank you's on the front of the card, I feel like I can't say thank you enough!

I made a One Sheet Wonder of Blushing Bride card stock stamped with the All A Flutter and Dreams De Jour butterflies which I then spritzed with my favourite Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint mixed with Isocol.  I love the subtle shimmery effect.

Stamps: Curly Cute, Basic Phrases, Happy Moments (2010 SAB set), Just Believe, All a Flutter, Dreams De Jour
Ink: Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz
Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz
Other: Stamp Positioner, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint

Jayne Mercer's Girls Night In Challenge #3

Hi!

Here's the last of my challenge cards.  The third challenge was to CASE any card out of the current Idea Book and Catalogue, but also to turn it pink.  Any excuse to flip through the catalogue!  I chose the thank you card from page 111.  I don't have that stamp set, so I had to dig through all my sets to find various thank you stamps.

I was quite pleased with how this one turned out!

A nice and simple card that was quite easy to reproduce.

Stamps: Curly Cute, Just Believe, Happy Moments (2010 SAB), Basic Phrases
Ink: Melon Mambo
Card Stock: Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Whisper White
Other: Stamp Positioner, Pink Pirouette 1 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (retired), White Embroidery Floss, Slot Punch (retired)

Classic Stars Birthday Card

Hi!

My daughter went to a birthday party recently. Actually, she goes to lots of birthday parties - she's a very social butterfly! This latest one was for a boy who was turning 5. I think this is a difficult age for us poor card makers - too old for baby stuff and way too young for teenage stuff. There's just not a whole lot of options for those in-between years.

That's why I love my Classic Stars Jumbo Wheel. It provides a great background that you could use on a card for any age group. Here's the card I came up with:

This was a quick and easy card to put together. The hardest part was waiting for the Crystal Effects on the number 5 to dry!

Stamps: Classic Stars Jumbo Wheel, Cute and Curly, Happy Moments (retired SAB)
Ink: So Saffron, Ballet Blue
DSP/Card Stock: So Saffron Patterns DSP, Ballet Blue, Whisper White
Other: Crystal Effects, Dimensionals, Curly Label Punch, Big Shot, Top Note Die, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Sponge Dauber, Chipboard Number 5 (non SU).

Circle Circus Birthday

Hi!

Today I thought I'd show you a birthday card I made for my brother-in-law. Circle Circus is one of my favourite stamp sets, but I haven't used it for a while. Way past time to get it inky! Here's the front of the card:

My brother-in-law has just got a new iphone so we decided to get him an itunes voucher for his birthday. I used an offcut and adhered it using double sided tape on 3 sides to form a little pocket for the gift voucher. I did this because I made the card before we'd decided what to get him, so it was the easiest way to incorporate a gift card holder without having to make a whole new card.

Works well, I think!

Stamps: Circle Circus, Whimsical Words and Happy Moments (both retired SAB)
Ink: Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie
DSP/Card Stock: Haiku DSP, Basic Black, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White
Tools: Stamp Positioner, Scallop Circle Punch, Circle Punch

A Flower For All Seasons

Hi!

Today I thought I'd have a go at Just Add Ink's latest challenge. The very clever ladies decided to combine the latest challenge with a Blog Hop. Each blog demonstrated a different technique and to enter the challenge you had to pick a technique to try. I decided to try watercolouring a la Sarah Klass!

Here is the card I made. I used the same stamp set but different stamp. They are great for colouring.

Here's a close up of the watercoloured panel:

I liked Sarah's technique of colouring all around the image, but I didn't have the courage to do that in case I ruined my image. Instead I coloured a little shadow underneath so the basket wasn't hanging in space.

Stamps: A Flower For All Seasons, Happy Moments (retired SAB 2010)
Ink: Stazon, Creamy Caramel, Regal Rose, Old Olive, Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand
DSP/Card Stock: Regal Rose Hostess Patterns Pack, Watercolour Paper, Old Olive, Whisper White
Other: Aqua Painter, 1/4" Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon

Melon Mambo Flower

Hi!

I just thought I'd pop onto my blog quickly this morning to show you a card I made with some of the upcoming Autumn-Winter Mini products.

For this card I used Melon Mambo card stock and ribbon. Melon Mambo is a colour that I over looked at first because I was pretty excited about Rich Razzleberry. However, once I got some of the ribbon and card stock I was keen to have a play. In fact I've used it before I broke out my Rich Razzleberry!

Isn't it a great colour! I love that it has a matching ribbon which is double sided. This means you can have it polka dot side up, or plain side up and get a totally different look.

The new Autumn-Winter Mini begins on the 1st April. Sadly this also means the end of the Summer Mini and Sale A Bration. If you haven't put your orders in for either of these two catalogues you need to get cracking!

Card stock: Melon Mambo (new In Colour), Green Galore, Whisper White
Stamps: Happy Moments
Ink: Green Galore marker
Other: Melon Mambo 1/2" Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon (new) Paper Crimper, 1 1/4" circle punch (to make the leaves)

Tina.

Happy Moments Birthday Card

Hi!

This week's challenge at Just Add Ink was a colour combo:

Another bright combo! This one included one of my favourite colours - So Saffron.

I kept this card fairly simple to balance out the brightness. The Green Galore present is paper pieced, the rest are coloured in So Saffron using a blender pen.

Card Stock: Whisper White, Green Galore, So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise, Pink Passion
Stamps: Happy Moments
Ink: Stazon, So Saffron
Other: Paper crimper, Blender Pen

Remember, you only have 'til the end of March to earn this stamp set FREE with a $100 order. Click on the Sale-A-Bration brochure on the right to find out more.

Happy Moments Birthday

Hi!

This month marks the final month of Sale A Bration. Once March is over the 4 stamp sets will be gone - they will not be in any future catalogues. With this in mind, I decided to use one of the 4 sets - Happy Moments - to make a card for Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #58.

My first instinct was to reach for girly colours, but I decided in the end to go for a more masculine colour scheme.

If you're interested in earning this stamp set, or any of the Sale A Bration stamp sets for FREE (with a $100 order), please email me now: happy.mum@hotmail.com. To check out the SAB sets, click on the SAB catalogue image to the right.

Card Stock: Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Not Quite Navy
Stamps: Happy Moments
Ink: Not Quite Navy, Pumpkin Pie, Black Stazon
Other: Pumpkin Pie 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, blender pen, circle cutter, star punch (non-SU)

Mojo Monday #126

Hi!

Last night I decided to have a got at the sketch challenge over at Mojo Monday.

I often check out Gardenia's blog, A Little Less Useless. Lately she's been doing some paper pieced cards and she's inspired me to have a go too. Go on over and check out her blog - she's got a free pass to the next UStamp with Dawn up for grabs!

For this card I pieced the flower from For Everything using the current Hostess DSP for the leaves and some Regal Rose card stock for the flower, which I also raised using Dimensionals.

Card stock/paper: Rose Red, Regal Rose, Very Vanilla, Hostess Patterns Pack II DSP
Stamps: For Everything, Happy Moments
Ink: Stazon, Basic Black, Garden Green, Rose Red
Punches: Scallop Circle, Scallop Edge, 1 1/2" Circle (non SU), 1 1/4" Circle
Other: Very Vanilla 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Blender Pen, Dimensionals

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #56

Hi!

I totally loved the sketch for Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #56. It was one you could do fairly simply, or totally go for broke and completely jazz up. Perfect!

Being a plain and simple kinda gal, I kept it really simple:

I coloured the image with blender pens and raised it on dimensionals after cutting it out. I also stamped the happy birthday sentiment several times on each Summer Sun panel in Summer Sun ink to give a subtle effect.

Card stock: Whisper White, Summer Sun, Certainly Celery
Stamps: A Flower For All Seasons, Happy Moments (SAB)
Ink: Summer Sun, Certainly Celery, Creamy Caramel, Ruby Red, Stazon
Other: Dimensionals, Blender Pen

Just Add Ink #4

Hi!

My two older children are at school/preschool this morning, so I thought I'd use the opportunity to whip up a card for Just Add Ink Challenge #4. I'm not usually one to 'just whip up a card' as I'm very much a planner. This time though I was so inspired by lots of different card makers that have made cards with the SAB set Happy Moments that it was easy to do. JAI's challenge is a colour challenge this week.

Interesting colours! I haven't used Sage Shadow or More Mustard before, so it was extra challenging - just the way I like it!

I wanted to keep the card ultra simple, and I think I achieved that. Apologies for the bad photo - I had to take it on my mobile as both of my cameras are deciding to play up.

Card stock: Kraft, More Mustard
Stamps: Happy Moments, Thoughts and Prayers
Ink: Sage Shadow, Rose Red
