JAI #154: Just Add A Pop Up Card

Hi!

This week at Just Add Ink Delys has challenged us to make a pop up card.  What fun! When I read this I had an idea pop into my head straight away (pun intended!). I'm pleased to say that my card turned out exactly as I'd planned.

Pop up cards scream kids to me, so I just had to use the I Dig You stamp set. It was perfect for the card I had in mind.  I created the sun shape by punching the medium sized scallop circle punch once and then inserting it again slightly rotated and punching again. Easy!

I created the background by tearing the cardstock and layering it to create mud and grass.  Love the effect it gives! The diggers are layered over the top using Dimensionals.

Here's the inside - the diggers pop up off the page when the card is opened.  Funnily enough, I was in an op shop last week and found a book on making pop up cards.  I didn't buy it, but I did sneak a peek inside.  Did you know there are around 7 different ways to make a pop up card??

The method I used was to cut two parallel slits where I wanted each digger to be.  I then folded each strip in the opposite direction to the rest of the card. The diggers were adhered to one side of the square created by this method.  If you don't want to cut your base cardstock you could just make a square with a strip of cardstock and adhere that to your base and pop up element.

I cut each of the strips at different lengths so that one digger would sit a little behind the other.

I had so much fun making a pop up card, something I will definitely try again in the future!
